You mean like reliably coordinating throwing a ball to a precise point on the field at a certain time, and another player being at that exact point on the field at that exact time regardless of what obstacles are in his way? Or recognizing how an offensive lineman is moving to block you so you can make sure you avoid him to get to the runner or quarterback?
All of which takes place on a Marks-Set-Go system of set plays, rather than the totally free-form play (barring Corners & Free Kicks, which even then don't have the kick-taker yelling out the moment they're going to kick the ball) of Football/Soccer. Guiding a ball to a precise point of the field because you've seen where someone might be running to for them to latch on to is no less skillful than a set of drills to do the same thing - arguably it relies on a whole different set of skills.
