No it’s not a thing. Most government businesses is conducted in person as it should be.

Also, as an addendum to what I said in an earlier post:

There have been attempts at a virtual/online government. And there have been incidents where the Zoom meetings of such governments have been bombed with inappropriate content, e.g the Italian Senate meeting or the Young Thug trial.

Nvm, I thought this was the voting thread. The major exceptions to Estonia’s government being entirely online are the elected government and the military still existing in-person because doing otherwise would be dumb, add no utility, and pose a serious challenge to national security/function of government.

The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

The most fundamental problem of politics is not the control of wickedness but the limitation of righteousness.

I'm sure nothing bad is going to come out of having an online government.
I'm sure they'll be as effective as online classes... right?!

That's one reason I'm opposed to an entirely virtual government. The other is the security issue that others have already explained, the third is that, because fast and reliable internet isn't available everywhere, it will add fuel to the already existing skip fires of certain relation, particularly poorer and more rural constituencies, who, through no fault of their own, could be shut out of the process altogether for periods of time just because telecom companies didn't think it profitable to upgrade internet connections in their area.

The idea is simple. The government no longer conducts business in person. All committee meetings and legislative sessions are now via zoom and the buildings that used to be their offices and that of government officials are no longer used as they are all mostly remote.
One argument that was made in favor was it makes government more accessible yet anyone can call and write to their representatives. Most committee meetings and legislative sessions can be viewed online in some countries and committee meetings can be called into so is this really needed?

I’m not sure what I think of this idea. It could technically work but is this something we really want?

Your thoughts?

Didn't some large ocean state(small Pacific Island chain) already say it was making it's nation in VR due to rising sea levels?

Edit: It is Tuvalu who is doing that.

Don't you need actual territory to be counted as a nation?

That's one of the requirements for the declarative theory of statehood, but "territory' could be stretched to include arcologies or floating structures.

The comparative theory is just a pyramid scheme, avoid it at all costs.

I support it because government officials should be forced to show us the inside of their homes via Zoom backgrounds so we can humiliate them for their decor and/or the various times they have twinks undressing in the background, take a shower or otherwise show their entire dicks and balls to a parliamentary subcommittee by accident
