Didn't America pretty much hate Jews, Asians, Italians and Slavs all at the same time? The Irish were a little earlier but it was around 1900 where America really hated anyone who wasn't a northwest european.

I dont know how well it jives with this fun delusional rhetoric but Ive heard legends that some guy in somewhere in Europr was rather rude to a Jewish person once. I mean I can't confirm these stories but it's possible that some of these concepts are not solely the domain of the evil American state.

The reason so many different groups found hostility in America is because do many different groups ended up in America. There was a huge surge of immigration and and conflicts followed wherever those groups wound up- that's just how that goes cultural clash isn't smooth and it's not limited to that period. I think that violence against anyone, including the LGBTQ+ community, is awful. However I fail to see the relevance of the "don't say gay" bill as all it does is stop schools from talking about sex stuff to young children. Also, I believe that "gender-affirming care" in the form of hormone blockers and transition surgery should not be allowed for children under 18. Transitioning is a big life decision, and there is a reason so many other activities are restricted to adulthood.

Everyone is to blame for this.

The progressive is silencing the homophobes, the homophobes go to spaces hosted by fellow homophobes, and you end up with a small but very violent group of people in an echo chamber that is pretty much impossible to penetrate. That's how you get terrorism.

Instead of taking the easy way out, we should debate people with homophobic tendencies in a neutral space so they can change their ideas (at best) or prevent them from going even deeper into that violent path. It's hard not to be hateful to an hateful person but doing so cures nothing, you won't ever shame someone into stopping to think something, only into bottling it up. And in the digital age you can't bottle things up, you find people that agree with you.

It's a bit scary that your classmate could be a literal fascist going down an hateful path that might make him pull out a gun and shoot you, but by allowing him a space to share his opinions and feelings we also prevent them from becoming even more fanatic and we allow them to see that there's a real world and a way out. Breaking free from an online cult is easy compared to a physical one and the only barrier stopping you from doing so is real life isolation.

Please note that listening to other people does not mean agreeing with them, just not shaming them from being (in this case terribly) wrong and biased, since we all are at least about something.

If the echo chamber goes on for too long, they will believe it as a solid dogma and feel like they are only one in a few that know the truth, and that they cant do anything to stop [HATED GROUP], so they will at least take revenge on them. But for this to happen they have to be radicalized first, which can be prevented by simply letting them express themselves and approaching the matter respectfuly.

Based on my experiences as a member of the incel community, the push was simply that I believe that women have more priviledges than men in certain areas, but I am in an enviroment where saying that would be social and academic suicide so I bottled that up. Pair that with self-esteem issues and here you go, I was worshipping Elliot Rodgers by year two. I eventually realized I was letting my hatred of women get too into me and sort of speedran the pipeline backwards into where I was before.

Had I had access to a firearm or lacked a moment of sudden self awareness, who knows what I would have ended up doing?

So yeah, in the age of information you don't ban ideas, you just lower their population and make the remaining ones more radical.

This isn't genocide, it's extremistic violence without any real leaders. However there might be some people that will happily lead this mob into getting very close to it for a few bucks. Nobody with power seems interested in banishing gay people they are just using them as a stool to get power, which on itself is horrible, but the focus should be in the sectors of society that are homophobic rather than the opportunistic politicians they vote for.

All drugs may have possible side effects. I just joined the Prozac nation and one of the warnings was the possibility of seeing “invisible friends”. Hasn’t happened.

It’s just a part of the way of things with pharmacology. Unfortunately we aren’t smart enough to figure out drugs that work as intended on everybody.

As far as I know the only issue with puberty blockers that I have read from actual studies is issues with bone density, an issue that happens in delayed puberty of any sort, and one that can be dealt with.
