People have this habit of saying one thing to avoid being looked at or treated as an asshole. Around my way; nobody seemed to have a voted for Trump. California had Prop 8 which was intended to ban gay marriage. It passed by a million votes. It eventually was overturned for other reasons..

The overturning of roe has been a disaster for the pro life movement. That has backfired on them in numerous states. So I can already see where an attempted overturning of gay rights may lead.

Ok to be honest, I don't like being violent. That being said, I am considering carrying pepper spray and something slightly stabby with all this violence.

Pepper spray and other Less-Lethal options (tasers and the like) are great, as they allow you to tip the odds in your favor without resorting to deadly force.

I remember years ago when mace was becoming a thing. I remember watching a news story(I forget where) where the police noticed a rise in violence against women. They looked into it and found women were ignoring their base instincts because they had mace spray.

They went as far as to try and do an outreach. They would get volunteers and take them to a parking lot. They were was cop out there and he was going to try and attack them(basically wrestle them to the ground), they were to have the mace ready and it was ok to spray him as he knew this could happen.

Every one of them lost.

Mind you this was years ago. Don’t know what training there is today. Basically the point is having something can make people be stupid and “stand their ground” rather then avoid a situation.

Knives count as deadly force, I'd recommend that you avoid those if aversion to deadly force is the reason why you won't carry a gun. Who wins a knife fight is whoever dies in the ambulance instead of on the street, so a gun is a far better choice.

I would agree on the knives. I once trained with a guy who taught the military. It’s not fun by any means.
