How do you ban a line of reasoning. You did not answer the question. In both instances you are referring to banning of actions NOT THOUGHTS OR LINES OF REASONING WHICH IS WHAT YOU ARE ADVACATING.

Catholics in particular have a very easy way of banning an ideology. Excommunication. While technically you can argue that this "only" banned Catholics from supporting/defending Communism and didn't technically ban the ideology itself, it's a very roundabout and honestly lame excuse for what it's really doing. Banning the ideology. You can't threaten devout Christians with excommunication for supporting an ideology while also claiming that the ideology isn't banned.
