How do you ban a line of reasoning? How would you enforce it?
It would be done in the same manner Christians attempt to ban anything they deem sinful. Plenty of ideologies have been subject to Christian criticism before, communism and secularism come to mind.
But this comment was made as tongue-in-cheek. This attitude of "ban anything I don't like" doesn't work when the basis is as flimsy as "this particular religion says it's bad."
John Paul I reiterated the official views of the church regarding Marxism and Catholicism being incompatible and believed it to be a "weapon to disobey" the Christian faith. As Patriarch of Venice, he struggled at times with Marxist students who were demanding changes in Venetian policies. He also forbade those factions that were Marxist from threatening the faith

1. How does oppressing others constitute repentance?
2. If you coerce repentance, it isn't genuine, and your god - if it existed and cared - wouldn't fall for that shit.
And believing in falsehoods does more harm than not.

Of course, telling the difference between a truth and a falsehood can be difficult, so disagreements occur.
