Why would we ever ban it? The greatest harm it causes is that awkward situation when someone walks in on someone else.

I know the entire argument comes from religion but why would you be forcing your religion on others? In a religion that specifically says to not force it on others! And I know the same people who are trying to push this are the same people who bash Sharia Law for the same argument I am using to argue against christianity in government.

It would be done in the same manner Christians attempt to ban anything they deem sinful. Plenty of ideologies have been subject to Christian criticism before, communism and secularism come to mind.

But this comment was made as tongue-in-cheek. This attitude of "ban anything I don't like" doesn't work when the basis is as flimsy as "this particular religion says it's bad."

Catholics in particular have a very easy way of banning an ideology. Excommunication. While technically you can argue that this "only" banned Catholics from supporting/defending Communism and didn't technically ban the ideology itself, it's a very roundabout and honestly lame excuse for what it's really doing. Banning the ideology. You can't threaten devout Christians with excommunication for supporting an ideology while also claiming that the ideology isn't banned.
