I don't consider it a sin and I don't know of anywhere in the Bible that says pornography is a sin.

No. That would require home surveillance and enough police to apprehend someone in 15 minutes or something.

I don't consider it a sin and I don't know of anywhere in the Bible that says pornography is a sin.

It's exegesis and goes something like this. "Extramarital sex is a sin. Porn shows sex. Man gets urges to have sex with someone not their spouse/masturbation is sex with self. Therefore, porn is sin."

This line of thinking is why bans on celebrating Christmas and dancing happened.

No we don't.

What should the person in London I keep mentioning have done? Struggled to get by and hoped he could get his family out with the little money he was making and not have the beautiful apartment he does and his family safe?

Pornography is not lust.

This kind of thinking almost makes me wish that the Bible was never translated. Almost. But it would be even worse if it wasn't. We'd all be taking orders from the Pope.

Delvian States is a confederal monarchy with autonomous principalities that often have their own laws. NS Policies aren't entirely reliable canon for that reason at least.

Stopping the demand is theoretically feasible if everyone is dead set on it. It would require redirecting peoples' urges on something else other than sex though. For it to be successful, it has to be the citizenry's own choice. A top-down ban will not work.

I mean, historically, sin has been criminalized. The emergence of liberalism and modern conceptions of tolerance began as a result of trying to facilitate a working compromise between religious groups that had previously clashed. That goes out the window when we begin discussing ideological hegemonies that aren't a very bland, noncommittal liberalism.
"Then it was as if all the beauty of Ardha, devastating in its color and form and movement, recalled to him, more and more, the First Music, though reflected dimly. Thus Alnair wept bitterly, lamenting the notes which had begun to fade from his memory. He, who had composed the world's first poem upon spying a gazelle and who had played the world's first song upon encountering a dove perched upon a moringa, in beauty, now found only suffering and longing. Such it must be for all among the djinn, souls of flame and ash slowly dwindling to cinders in the elder days of the world."

In my opinion, it was largely decriminalized not because society became more accepting of the behaviors, but because of the degrees of historical disproportionate enforcement.

exact opposite, honestly. i can name, like, five websites off the top of my head where i can pirate the latest video games. they haven't even been touched by the government. hell, one of my background tabs right now is a site to pirate anime.

I'm not really certain it's a substantive difference in all honesty given porn production and hosting in the US and Europe is largely a hierarchical oligopoly. But, yeah, it doesn't really matter if y'all know who bell hooks - she's a feminist author - is. The basic point remains broadly true and has been written on extensively. I'm just taking the extra step of proposing revolution over reform - the usual logic here is that genuine reform is impossible.

As I mentioned before, this isn't my perspective, but it is one of the left-wing perspectives that is well-considered and well-reasoned.

There are three things vital to know about any powerful institution: in whose interests it exercises its power, to whom it is accountable, and how to be rid of it.

In all honesty, the degree of historical disproportionate enforcement has been exaggerated in the public consciousness of late. Most people here probably don't have an educated understanding of either the Crusades or the Spanish Inquisition, especially if they've relied on popular media.

I wouldn't use the term "thoughtcrime" but we go back to the war on drugs mindset. Floof is assuming that the police will be good at their job but as we've seen that isn't guaranteed. Its just a lot of unnecessary work for everyone involved

Once again to all the authoritarians why can you not leave people alone who are not hurting others. Like what psychological defect is making you feel that you need to regulate other peoples up to using violence of the state to subjugate them . Do you really think i would be a better citizen after your jack boots beat my teeth in with a billy club and throw me in a cell for 3 years cause i had a copy of hustler? No thats how you get a 5,000 lbs anfo bomb shipped to the morality polices hq . Like do you really think you could do that to a country of 340 million and effectively use the police? Like come on now the population will resist up to the point of violence . How many dead folk would it take for you to admit your moral crusade is as absurd as it is impotent?
