My thoughts are that you should educate yourself to utilize appropriate numbers of exclamation points and emoticons.

That is to say, do not use more than one exclamation point! That is one of the most annoying mistakes I have ever seen, right up there with multiple question marks. It does not emphasize your point. It just makes you look childish.
