DISCUSS!

It depends...
Who would I have to kill to keep them?

Yourself? That would actually be an interesting hypothetical--life without free speech or no life at all.

Huh, you learn something new every day.

Rhod, its posts like this that keep me comming back for more.

I am never willing to kill anyone, especially the right of free speech. I am, however, willing to die saying what I want, when I want, where I want. There is a big difference between the two.

The amercans have no rights if you look at everything the government has passed, they only allow us these freedoms for the time being but whenever something goes wrong notice how quick the government is to "temporarily suspend our rights"

Yeah, One makes you a huge historical figure, the other, you get capped, I'd rather be the historical figure xD

Well if the Patiot Act isn't proof enough, Look up the history of Eugene Debs, one of the great americans of the 20th century, & most people don't know who he is because he was put in prison for giving a speech.

None of the rights in the Bill of Rights are unlimited, and them not being unlimited does not mean that they don't exist.

That's only what we know on the surface. The right to free speech carries with it the right to peaceful protest, the ability to elect a newcomer when we despise the cronies in our government now. It comes with the right to have peaceful religious assembly which millions hold dear. It comes with the right to call bull when an employer mistreats a customer. It comes with the ability to picket in front of a government building when other rights are being infringed. It comes with CHOICE.

By choosing the right to the First Amendment, you have chosen what makes you a God-ordained entity of the world as opposed to a slave to the reigning politicians, which is the BACKBONE of our nation's founding principles, that someone higher than man gave us the right to be free, not the government, and that the government has to answer to the people for its work.

Let's face it, without the right to free speech, how on earth can this country truly call itself free?

That, my friend, is something worth taking up arms for.

Where?
Having (for example) the right to free speech does not mean you have the right to yell "Fire" in a theatre...

Because he was a Little batshit insane and I would never adhere to any doctrine or ideology affiliated with his ideas on any given day of the week.

See, the joke was not only because of his Anglo-American surname, but because of the serious subsequent implications.

Shit, it was funny on paper, okay? Everything is a jocular verity on paper.

No. Even if it wasn't irreparably at odds with my ethics, it's too much work. When given the option, I've declined to do things that were even kinda've work for money. I mean, I work my ass off at my job, but if someone offers me $20 to drive across town to mail a letter... odds are likely I'll choose laziness.

IIRC, he was charged with sedition. Something about urging people to resist the draft. Like it or not, that's illegal.

You just don't like the muslim ideals, because you, like most americans, asociate the muslim faith with terrorism.

Eh, personally I'd go for the big money as usual, and killing for money is generally how I role, but the laziness road is seldom a bad road.

Unless, you know, there is like, a nuclear weapon going off a few feet away from you or something.

I am not feeling up to hypotheticals and widgets tonight this morning.

Bull, if it ain't my religion I do not have to adhere to its ideals. I do not affiliate myself with any religion, and therefore eh.

Also, his Muslim ideals were not what I was referring to. More so, his racial separatism and radicalism.

I am pretty sure the question to be asked here is why it is illegal. But eh, a compromise would surely help the situation. Agree to disagree but disagree to part: when after all it's just a compromise of the things we do for love.

The things we do for love.

EDIT: And Debs was a socialist, by the way. That makes it even more illicit.

I'd do anything I could to reach a non-violent solution. If such were impossible to be reached, well... "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants".

That's only because he got capped before he had a chance to turn it around, after his pigrimage to india he realized that it wasn't about race, it was about bringing everyone together, sitting around the campfire, and singing koom-bye-yah. xD
