What is better: Pancakes or Waffles?

It's time for me to start a world war in the forums.

Which do you think is better?

Pancakes, made from the pan, flat round, can be drizzled with syrup, butter, jam, anything of your choice.
Or:
Waffles, made from a waffle maker from your local corner store, grid shaped, can be drizzled with syrup (good luck with doing that), or anything of your choice.

Personal OP: Both are good but I prefer pancakes over waffles. They're flat, easy to spread, straight out of the pan, and they come out flatter than a piece of pan crust pizza. Pancakes can also be spread with whatever you want, easily.

Jokes aside, I have eaten both waffles and pancakes throughout my whole life and I prefer Pancakes over Waffles. Pancakes feel more fluffy, more tasty, and you can add more onto pancakes.

While I'm clearly team waffle, national chains dedicated to one or the other certainly favor pancakes.

I mean, IHOP is a Denny's with delusions of grandeur while Waffle House is a Denny's without all that pretense.

I love both very much, but the scales are tipped in the waffle's favor by the graces of texture and versatility in my opinion.
Though I can match that with the hoe cake if I care to, the waffle iron is so much fun to use in and of itself, and I cannot buy a box of hoe cakes and pop them in a toaster.
