When a person's problem is that the don't have a house, there is a very obvious thing that you can give them to solve that problem, and it very obviously isn't a job.

Not that simple. For example, resources come into play. We do have endless people who prattle on about just build more and yet ignore checking if available resources can support the increase.

I mean, for housing? Most north american houses are just smoke and mirrors, while China can build so many steel and concrete towers that it threatens to crash their economy from overinvestment in a total bubble.

Cultural differences. Tower approach for now will not be accepted here. Even then the environment effects will make it expensive. Earth quakes; tornados, hurricanes. And again. Resources…..

Salt Lake City created a program where they built housing for the homeless and helped them with addiction and getting jobs. As a result they mostly eliminated the city's problem with homelessness.

You're misunderstanding. What I mean to say is that chinese steel and concrete towers are frankly more resource intensive (although probably not per unit), as opposed to north american houses which are smoke and mirrors, yet they can pump out so much that nobody even needs em any more. They're kind of like Hoxha's bunkers, you know?

Great Salt Lake is rapidly drying up and is very likely going to cause toxic dust storms when it does. SLC doesn't have a whole lot of time left to keep an alright place.

well, shit, that already gives me a small list of cities and towns in Indiana that have plenty of job opportunities

Frankfort with a population of 28k, despite its classification as a city, has manufacturing, retail, food, insurance and agriculture as the biggest job producers. Monticello, with a population of 5k has the same. on top of having the Indiana Beach amusement park nearby. just to name a couple examples

The state legislature in Utah unanimously banned conversion therapy recently. Statewide anti-discrimination laws cover sexual orientation and gender identity in employment and housing,
