Every post on page 397 and half of 398 are either San Lumen or someone quoting San Lumen.

Just let that soak in.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Yeah no. Liberalism/capitalism and personal liberty are deeply intertwined. The first corporations were joint-stock companies, where every person involved in the venture invested their effort and money, splitting the profits later. That's the essence of capitalism. Without the right to pursue your own business as you see fit in an economic sense, personal liberty is totally meaningless. Deciding how people should be allowed to dispose of their personal liberty completely negates the point of personal liberty.
And the reverse is also true - why should society (under socialism) have to support you if your lifestyle is totally out of whack or if you're not contributing to society? The logic of socialism totally breaks down if one part of society works to uphold the system while another part are allowed to live however they see fit.

Why should we care about philosophical consistency? If you put down the textbooks and look at how these things operate in the real world, it's pretty clear that "pursuing your own business" translates to making poor people's lives miserable and trashing the ecosystem, distinct effects that are entirely separable from things like abortion and LGBT rights. And the whole point of socialism is a rejection of individualist standards. It supports "out of whack lifestyles" because it supports everyone regardless of lifestyle.

Or he's just low hanging fruit and everyone feels comfortable taking swings at that allows him to grind this thread to a halt on a regular basis.

This is also an entirely plausible explanation.

At this point we need a San Lumen discussion thread so that this one doesn't get clogged up by discussions of him vs 4 other people.

I agree because those types of titles can normalize hereditary forms of corruption if they're presumed as anyone's birthright.

you know someone could do something about that, it's still technically could be ratified, and you know the 27th amendment was after spending forever in hell.

Here’s a positive thing:

https://www.businessinsider.com/what-is ... 2023-5?amp

Biden admin is putting forth a new gainful employment rule that, it appears, may be tougher than ever. For profit colleges are frequently predatory and provide much less value than they claim, and this is a positive step.

These stories keep coming out and will absolutely destroy Republicans for what can really only be described as evil at this point..

A Florida woman, unable to get an abortion in her state, carried to term a baby who had no kidneys.

Deborah Dorbert’s son Milo died in her arms on March 3, shortly after he was born, just as her doctors had predicted he would.

“He gasped for air a couple of times when I held him,” said Dorbert, 33. “I watched my child take his first breath, and I held him as he took his last one.”

She said her pregnancy was proceeding normally until November, when, at 24 weeks, an ultrasound showed that the fetus did not have kidneys and that she had hardly any amniotic fluid. Not only was the baby sure to die, her doctors told her, but the pregnancy put her at especially high risk of preeclampsia, a potentially deadly complication.

Her doctors told her it was too late to terminate the pregnancy in Florida, which bans nearly all abortions after 15 weeks. The only options were to go out of state to get an abortion or to carry the baby to full term, and Dorbert and her husband didn’t have the money to travel.

Money was raised for travel but they were afraid of any legal implications if they had an abortion out of state, they have another son and couldn't afford for anyone to go to prison. The doctors wouldn't perform the induced birth either because the penalty is prison for them as well.

It's fucking inhumane frankly.

Do we need daily updates on this? Are a bunch of people going to get murdered over the contracts for the new signs or something as soon as it goes thru?

That's not an answer. The ERA has a storied debate. Try educating yourself on it.

No people will probably not get murdered over contracts, the contracts are probably settled by this point, I just want to keep giving people updates on when the latest fort renaming will happen.

I’ll have you know I’ve watched an entire Hulu miniseries about it; do you think Cate Blanchett and Rose Byrne don’t deserve rights ?
