You know what I just thought a way to make Sarah Hughes being an Olympian can be relevant. She can use it as a cudgel to beat with on anyone who disagrees with her on Transgender sport policy.

DeSantis' plan seems to be pretty clear: run further to right on certain issues on Trump. That would be on abortion, guns, immigration, healthcare, and COVID-19 Vaccination. It seems his attempt is to out trump, Trump. He hopes that will win over conservative voters and take advantage of Trump's reluctance to take an official position on key issues. But he does risk alienating independents, women, and moderates should he win the nomination.

Basically, we can hope that DeSantis and Trump damage each other at this point.
Trump has already flippflopped right past at least his explicit 2016 stances. So I don’t see how Florida Man can win the primary with this. You can’t outsell a pivot with the base behind Qanon. And that’s without being an charm desert like DeSantis.

Yeah trying to "out-Trump" Trump historically hasn't worked in primaries for House, Senate, etc etc. Plus, a lot of Trump's strength and devoted fans come from Independent voter blocs; right-leaning and culturally conservative voters who love Trump's populist message but may find DeSantis to be too bitter and hardcore-right a pill to swallow.

He'll win the North Dakota vote, so, maybe 8 or 9 primary voters?

Just because he is an elected official representing that state doesn't mean they will win a presidential primary in their home state . Marco Rubio didn't win Florida Trump did.

Well yeah, I'm being facetious. Good chance he drops out well before the ND primaries anyhow.

If I remember correctly North Dakota was the last state to hold primaries in 2016.

apparently desantis is trying to revive florida’s military force, which would be under his control. I’m sure there are only good reasons for that.

How exactly is he supposed to run to the right of trump on immigration? By suggesting that the border be completely shut for 10 years and anyone who tries to cross will come face to face with the combined national guards of every state on the border?

And there are liberals who think it would be worse to have Trump for another 4 years when compared to this guy. I know Trump is like the secular version of the devil for some folks out there but good lord people, it is possible even now for Trump to be a lesser evil when compared to someone else, especially if that someone else is Ron DeSantis.

The only good thing Trump will probably do during this entire election is tank Ron DeSantis' current campaign, and maybe destroy his future political career as well.

DeSantis is definitely better than Trump for sure. Everyone needs to be gunning for him in the primary so we don't get a repeat of 2020.

He will have run to the right of him on other areas like abortion. Then there are other way to attack him by say things like your signedlegislation that gave woke companies like Disney and Budweiser massive permanent tax breaks then set time limits on tax breaks of ordinarily people while limiting the tax deductions they can make by owing a home. Why do you love woke companies and hate home owing Americans?

Some states do. They are called State Defense Forces and are mostly made up of veterans and other volunteers.

Legally they are considered civilians and not actually military members. The SDFs are more in line with a paramilitary than an actual military

It’s already been revived. Happened in 2022

Though it’s a volunteer force so not exactly a hit squad
