Whose dime is it, Lumen? The workers are the people actually generating revenue, not the bosses.

If it weren't for the person whose name is on the building investing their time and effort in starting the business, the noble workers would not have a job in the first place.

Ah, but they would. It isn't rich assholes who build factories, it's other workers. It isn't rich assholes to design products or services, it's other workers. It isn't rich assholes who extract raw materials, it's other workers. At no stage is the rich asshole actually necessary, except in that we have an economic system which gives ownership of these things to the rich assholes despite them generally not doing anything useful.

People forget that it was not to long ago when workers owned their own workshops. Yes capital investment increases production a hundredfold, but we don't NEED it to make shit.

No, most rich assholes got their money by birth and the hard work of others.

Do they build their own factories? No. Do they build their own homes? No. Do they build the tech to run their factories and homes? No.

Guess who does all of that?

I was wondering when someone was going to do that. I am sure the repubs will have some religious “freedom” argument and declare the Bible is not part of the book banning laws.

Still it’s fascinating to see how many conservatives have this dream of manufacturing returning to these shores. It’s not going to happen.

Trump is pushing for MTG to run for Senate in Georgia in 2026

This would literally guarantee Ossoff's reelection if she got the nomination.

lel. Moving manufacturing to poor countries with cheap labor was never going to be sustainable, because doing so leads to a domestic market that competes with exporters for labor, driving them out. It's a sort of reverse Dutch disease.

Meh. An opinion piece. Still; I will believe it when I see the US quality standards label of “Made in China” greatly reduced.

Basically; I have heard these claims and seen opinion pieces for a couple decades. Especially during election years….

A lot of those people were workers before becoming rich. Are you going to damn somebody because they got to the point in life where they started delegating tasks to other people and profited from it? Some people are born into wealth but give substantially if not a majority of their money to charities and helping others. Are you going to blast people for how they were born?

BE specific.

I have a bone to pick with non-rich assholes in the rail industry which caused ecological disaster in ohio. I have a bone to pick with bobby kotick for multiple reasons. I have a bone to pick with assholes who engage in tax evasion. etc.

elon musk's family owned an emerald mine in zambia and sold emeralds for 6 years. bill gates's father was a lawyer and served in high-ranking positions for universities. jeff bezos's grandfather owned a ranch in texas and his adoptive father loaned him $245,000 to start amazon. bernand ardault, the richest person in the world, comes from a family who owns factories and real estate.

someone on the street working in a factory for minimum wage isn't going to become a billionaire without connections, especially familial ones. inheritance is a bitch.
