From the perspective of the freedom caucus this is strike three. There’s discussions taking place among them about filing a Motion to Vacate which should happen within the next week or two.

I stand corrected.

After listening to McCarthy's statement, he just doesn't seem to get what we was delegated to do. It doesn't sound like it is even comprehensible to him. The Potomac Fever is strong in this one.

Maybe it has something to do with the existence of a method to prevent the economic collapse that doesn't involve cuts to essential programs.

Or maybe we could like, stop almost falling into a collapse every year? Especially with attempts to cut important services.

Republicans would never allow that. They need the debt ceiling to keep any semblance of power when out of the oval office

Republicans still hope that young men will come around

Yeah, I don't see it barring a major ideological shift. There's a damn good reason that they're not connecting with the young.

Being an MD of that WMD, I can assuredly say that there is no force on heaven or earth that would ever make me vote for a Republican. A Republican could be running against a serial killer child molester, I'll vote third party. No third party on the ballot? I won't vote. Make me vote at gunpoint? I be like Rick in The Walking Dead fucking biting out the throat of the person with the gun.

The only major ideological shifts the young will likely face would be going further left.

Being the party of angry far-right boomers and shock jocks certainly isn't going to get the youth vote any time soon.

Not to mention that they hate the youth just as much as they hate many minorities.

What’s nuts is the fact that my generation (millennials) is becoming less conservative. At this point in time the baby boomers where becoming far more conservative.

Well, it's easy to become a conservative when the economy actually works in your favor.

True. Which is why I’ve told my conservative friends and family that they should support government initiatives to increase home ownership as there is strong evidence that homeowners become more conservative.

Also maybe get the government to cut down on healthcare bills?

Both of those would lead to a conservative rise but the current cons don’t want that for reasons

One of the minor amusements of this cycle, watching erstwhile Trump supporters who have latched onto DeSantis as their new daddy profess themselves to be shocked and appalled to discover that Donald Trump was actually Donald Trump all along.

Millennials and Gen Z are far more progressive and lean towards social democracy than the older generation.

In fact, both political parties will have to alter their ideologies if they want to entice young voters.

Because they have a subconscious contempt for those "beneath" them and anyone who dares oppose them. That and the age old sentiment of "Fuck you, I've got mine!"

They want the people on the bottom to put up, shut up, and "know their place." Hence why instead of appealing to the young people by saying they will promote our interests, they instead try to make it harder for young people to vote, then out of further spite, literally enact policies designed to keep us in debt.

And then these dumb asses think we'll ever vote for them.
