I mean, there are multiple instances of police holding back when people are in danger, Uvalde being a recent high-profile example. Regardless, even if they hurry as fast as they can, that's often far too slow to intervene before a person is harmed.

Ahh. Never understood what that is so scary. Anybody can get a background check on people…..
Because background checks aren't free and are often used as another way to try and price people out of gun ownership.
If they were free then yeah every single transaction should have one, but until then no.

Well, the police aren't legally obligated to defend them. Just to arrest and investigate. Courts have ruled as much.
I'm all for expanded background checks, but most of the other measures are about particular weapons and don't actually do anything to keep them out of criminal hands. Yeah, I'm a pro-gun leftist unicorn. End of tangent.
Have any examples of a home invasions, etc., and the police showed up after their donuts and coffee?

Meh. Let’s see if that remains when the people are distracted by the next shiny.
I think that it's significant that, even now, in a two-man contest, which is likely to emerge when the dust settles, De Santis holds his own. It's touch and go which of them is more frightening as a potential Republican nominee and, worst case scenario, President.

Castle Rock, Colorado, 1999. Simon Gonzales kidnaps his three children, aged 7, 9, and 10, from outside their mother's house, who has a restraining order against him. He calls his ex-wife, Jessica Gonzales, and tells her he's taking them to an amusement park in Denver. She informs the police of all of this. Castle Rock police take no action. Hours later, Simon Gonzales arrives at Castle Rock police station and is killed in a shootout with police. The three girls are found in his truck, already dead, presumably murdered by their father, though neither cause nor time of death could be established. The Supreme Court ruled in 2005 that the police did not have a constitutional duty to protect Ms. Gonzales or her children.

That, sir, is on a level with the argument that 1,092 civilians were killed by police in the past 12 months. Now, how many police interactions did not result in dead citizens?
In both cases, one is one too many.
Ohhh yea I keep forgetting the edgy the police are more dangerous then the criminal claims on NSG.
