Yet another stunning example of legislation being pushed through because of feels and not facts.

"It creates a "red flag" law, allowing family members, spouses, roommates, or law enforcement to ask a court to suspend someone's access to guns if a judge determines they're in significant danger of harming themselves or someone else..."
Gee, I cannot fathom how on earth this could possibly be abused by anyone holding a grudge at any point in time. Nope... no siree.

"The second part expands background checks to private gun transfers; it'll now apply to things like sales at gun shows, not just at federally licensed dealers..."
I look forward to this being tossed out on it's head by the higher courts in the near future for the bullshit legislation that it is. I also couldn't help but noticed that none of this actually will do anything to stop firearm crimes committed in the state and does nothing but further hinder/target innocent people who once again have committed no crimes yet are being punished anyway.

Surely Lumen will support banning MMA and boxing classes too.

That's not what I said. You can understand plain English, yes?San Lumen wrote: It should not be tossed out and if it is that judge should be publicly shamed by the Governor.
The Governor should be told to go pound sand, right?

Show me a case where it was abused.
It should not be tossed out and if it is that judge should be publicly shamed by the Governor.

This is clearly what we want for society - political strong arming of the judiciary.

So, if there were no firearms the homicide rate would decrease by about 63%?
Ignoring the fact that some of those people might still commit homicide with other means, even still that would be a significant decrease.

In the same way that if there was no water nobody would drown, sure. But there's never going to be no firearms so it's a pointless thing to even think about.

Do you know the amount of countries that have almost completely banned firearms?
its quite a few, and its working out pretty well for us, as we (Australia) have a homicide rate of 0.89 per 100k in comparison to the US's rate of 4.96 per 100k.

Australia’s firearms homicide rate was more or less entirely unchanged by the National Firearms Agreement, in fact it actually spiked after it became law before then returning to the same decades long trend it had been on before it was passed in the first place. Pointing to Australia as an example of gun control reducing violence doesn’t really work because it was both a non-violent place to begin with and because the numbers don’t support the assertion that it actually did anything.
