"It creates a "red flag" law, allowing family members, spouses, roommates, or law enforcement to ask a court to suspend someone's access to guns if a judge determines they're in significant danger of harming themselves or someone else..."

Gee, I cannot fathom how on earth this could possibly be abused by anyone holding a grudge at any point in time. Nope... no siree.

"The second part expands background checks to private gun transfers; it'll now apply to things like sales at gun shows, not just at federally licensed dealers..."

I look forward to this being tossed out on it's head by the higher courts in the near future for the bullshit legislation that it is. I also couldn't help but noticed that none of this actually will do anything to stop firearm crimes committed in the state and does nothing but further hinder/target innocent people who once again have committed no crimes yet are being punished anyway.

Also.. just took a glance at Table 20..

Minnesota only had 79 homicides committed with a firearm. Of those numbers, 0 were committed with rifles of any type and 0 with shotguns. In comparison, 10 people were killed with sharp/blunt instruments, 20 with hands/feet, and 15 with "other" weapons.

Yet another stunning example of legislation being pushed through because of feels and not facts.

Show me a case where it was abused.

It should not be tossed out and if it is that judge should be publicly shamed by the Governor.

I understand perfectly well. I asked you to provide evidence of red flag laws being abused.

That's not what I said.l said if a judge strikes down the law the Governor should call them out by name and say they clearly don't care about the people and would rather rule in favor of a minority that wants no gun laws at all.

And the Judge should tell the Gov to go pound sand. That is how it goes, right?

This is clearly what we want for society - political strong arming of the judiciary.
Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.
The Parkus Empire: Being serious on NSG is like wearing a suit to a nude beach.
New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

It's a slippery slope argument that only someone who hasn't thought it through would recommend let along actually support. After all, the political pendulum will eventually swing the other way and fair is fair once you open Pandora's Box.

So, if there were no firearms the homicide rate would decrease by about 63%?
Ignoring the fact that some of those people might still commit homicide with other means, even still that would be a significant decrease.

Do you know the amount of countries that have almost completely banned firearms?
its quite a few, and its working out pretty well for us, as we (Australia) have a homicide rate of 0.89 per 100k in comparison to the US's rate of 4.96 per 100k.

Australia’s firearms homicide rate was more or less entirely unchanged by the National Firearms Agreement, in fact it actually spiked after it became law before then returning to the same decades long trend it had been on before it was passed in the first place. Pointing to Australia as an example of gun control reducing violence doesn’t really work because it was both a non-violent place to begin with and because the numbers don’t support the assertion that it actually did anything.

here is a graph of fire arm homicides in Australia https://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/comp ... gun_deaths

The NFA was first implemented in 1996 (however it was amended in 2017 before the small spike you seem to have been referring to), and if you look on the graph you will see that in following years the number of firearm homicides nearly halved.
link a site that states when it was first published and some extra details, https://www.ag.gov.au/crime/drugs-and-firearms/firearms

If that isn't evidence that gun control works, I don't know what is.
