What in the blue chocolate jesus on a pogo stick is this shit?
PA’s Insane Ammunition Registration Database, Wants All Your Ammo to Have Separate Serial Numbers
The bill would create an “encoded ammunition database,” which would contain comprehensive records of all ammunition sold or purchased, including details from the manufacturer, seller, and purchaser. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade organization for the shooting sports industry, has raised concerns about exactly this type of database in a recent Bullet Serialization Fact Sheet [embedded below], noting that it could have negative implications for public safety and law enforcement.

The bill has several provisions, including a requirement that all ammunition sold in Pennsylvania must be encoded with multiple serial numbers. This means that a manufacturer must add individual serial numbers to all ammunition provided for retail sale in a manner yet to be established by the Pennsylvania State Police commissioner. Each bullet would have a unique serial number located at its base, inside the cartridge casing, and outside the box of ammunition.

Why is it that the "Do Something" crowd always opens with a non-starter? Maybe we could prevent a mass shooting, maybe, but the immediate place gun control advocates always seem to go is to AWB's and mag bans. There's an observable pattern of characteristics that these mass shooters seem to have, a history of mental illness and antisocial behavior, an unstable homelife (e.g. Sandy Hook and Uvalde), and many are known to law enforcement before hand (e.g. Parkland and Buffalo), but instead of proposing something, anything, that could isolate potential shooters before they go on their sprees, activists beat the same tired drum.

But maybe, just maybe, your post gives it all away: "Republicans should..." It's the culture war, "Assault Weapons" are inextricably linked to a strawman out of a Horsey cartoon, like this
Image

It isn't about the kids, public safety, et cetera, et cetera is it? No, it's about "owning the Cons" just like how DeSantis' campaign against the "woke" is about the "owning the Libs". We aren't going to get anywhere, and in the meantime, these shootings will continue to happen, even in the states that enacted the kind of legislation advocated for.

What would the benefit even be? That you could track down a gunman from the casing left behind? Maybe I'm just being intentionally naive, thinking that this is in good faith like that.

People refill spent ammo, often separating casing and bullet. Would every shot fired have to be registered?

Yeah, I don't think it's going to work they way they envisioned after hitting the crack pipe. Ammo manufacturers would have to retool to imprint it on the bullet. Then there is the problem of when a bullet hits its target, it gets destroyed or perhaps this is PAs way of manufacturers not selling ammo in the state.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to work they way they envisioned after hitting the crack pipe. Ammo manufacturers would have to retool, then you have the issue that it would have to be printed as I would think laser etching and or stamping would cause weak points in the casing and no manufacturer is going to want the headache of being sued when shit goes sideways. Perhaps PA's end goal it that the manufacturers just wont sell ammo to the state.

1. Punishing people solely for their party affiliation is a hate crime.
2. Most voters (in the US) aren't registered with either party
3. Your entire argument here is "appeal to emotion" and "coercion", both of which mean that you have no intent of discussing the problem.

You can't just say "appeal to emotion." I swear people find out about words like, "fallacy" and "appeal to emotion" and then just use them in situations where they aren't accurate. Btw, I didn't mean republican voters(although some are crazy enough to where they probably sbhould), I meant republican lawmakers like Desantis, MTG, Ted Cruz, etc.

Also, that's...not a hate crime. What? You aren't born a republican or democrat. It's not a feature that you can't get rid of.

You might have a point, if only for the small detail that you are absolutely wrong and that, yes indeed, they absolutely are accurate in describing your laughable argument as presented.

But it is an appeal to emotion. The merits of gun control vs gun rights exist regardless of whether you see a shooting.

Fwiw, I've seen plenty of footage from mass shootings, including the Buffalo shooter's stream, and it hasn't budged me an inch. Elect me!

"Absolutely" is one of those tricky words that might lead one to assert claims they didn't intend. Unless there's been an astonishing discovery in human genetics that I'm unaware of?
