The bill would create an “encoded ammunition database,” which would contain comprehensive records of all ammunition sold or purchased, including details from the manufacturer, seller, and purchaser. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade organization for the shooting sports industry, has raised concerns about exactly this type of database in a recent Bullet Serialization Fact Sheet [embedded below], noting that it could have negative implications for public safety and law enforcement.
The bill has several provisions, including a requirement that all ammunition sold in Pennsylvania must be encoded with multiple serial numbers. This means that a manufacturer must add individual serial numbers to all ammunition provided for retail sale in a manner yet to be established by the Pennsylvania State Police commissioner. Each bullet would have a unique serial number located at its base, inside the cartridge casing, and outside the box of ammunition.

People refill spent ammo, often separating casing and bullet. Would every shot fired have to be registered?Grinning Dragon wrote:What in the blue chocolate jesus on a pogo stick is this shit?

What would the benefit even be? That you could track down a gunman from the casing left behind? Maybe I'm just being intentionally naive, thinking that this is in good faith like that.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to work they way they envisioned after hitting the crack pipe. Ammo manufacturers would have to retool, then you have the issue that it would have to be printed as I would think laser etching and or stamping would cause weak points in the casing and no manufacturer is going to want the headache of being sued when shit goes sideways. Perhaps PA's end goal it that the manufacturers just wont sell ammo to the state.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to work they way they envisioned after hitting the crack pipe. Ammo manufacturers would have to retool to imprint it on the bullet. Then there is the problem of when a bullet hits its target, it gets destroyed

You can't just say "appeal to emotion." I swear people find out about words like, "fallacy" and "appeal to emotion" and then just use them in situations where they aren't accurate. Btw, I didn't mean republican voters(although some are crazy enough to where they probably sbhould), I meant republican lawmakers like Desantis, MTG, Ted Cruz, etc.
Also, that's...not a hate crime. What? You aren't born a republican or democrat. It's not a feature that you can't get rid of.
