To be honest (and this isn't really about URFR as much as it is towards the idea of "Putin's War in Ukraine") this rhetoric of "Russians are being lied to by their propaganda, this is why they support the Russian invasion" is a flawed argument that misses the fact that Russian people by and large (in and out of Russia) do support the expansion of Russia into areas traditionally within their zone of influence (especially territories formerly controlled by iterations of Russia). It's the same thing as with non-Reich Germans by and large supporting Nazi Germany's invasions (when they were going ok at least) and not really out of ordinary for the diaspora of any country with high levels of revanchism. They're not a monolith, sure, but they generally do support the Russian government's adventurism because it panders into Nationalist sensations. Why would it need to be brainwashing?

well sure, but that's not really the point I'm making. URFR has access to free press and information most Russians do not. It would be at least forgivable for them to regurgitate Kremlin propaganda ad nauseum, if they had access to little else.
