What if a being like Superman arrived on Earth?

Lets say a humanoid alien baby like Superman crashes in Kansas like the lore says. Things proceed as they do in most films and no one knows about him until hes older and moves to in this case New York City and goes to work for the New York Times.

They begin to use their immense talents throughout the city and the world. Soon after other superhuman beings emerge as well similar to the Justice League.

How does the world react? Would it be positive or negative? What would happen?

I think it would be amazing. It might help heal some of the divides we have and mitigate some issues.

What do you all think?

Super-powered Person and Repercussions!

The world would panic and rightly so. A literal god has just shown himself to the world.

Shit would hit the fan everywhere

Why would people panic and would shit hit the fan? I'd welcome it.

I doubt it. Crime might actually increase as people would start panicking/rioting over the revelation

Unironically I would do everything I could to kill it. I’m not shaving my head though because I actually do have amazing hair.

Crime is high because the ruling class wants it that way. I would suggest changing the ruling class before waiting for Superman.

Because a powerful being just appeared out of nowhere? It would freak out half the world and probably destroy/create a few religions. It would be mass panic

I'd want him to fly me to the 40 Eridani System...for reasons.

But if you know the lore you can't.

But in this hypothetical Superman is real

I don't see why that would happen.

You don’t see how a guy who flies and has laser eyes and other powers wouldn’t be seen as a god or cause panic in the masses?

Entire religions would probably question everything and others like many evangelicals would believe the end times are upon us

I dont think panic would occur.

It definitely would. You are either lying to yourself or thinking that people would be fine with a flying unkillable god

I think it would be catastrophic.

One thing that isn't really explored in superhero films, for obvious reasons, is the complexity of geopolitics. Should superhumans intervene in the war in Ukraine? What about the Israel/Palestine conflict? What about Yemen or Ethiopia? There are conflicts and wars all over the world and people on all sides would presumably request the help of people with superpowers. Whichever side was chosen, there would be various accusations of fascism ond hatred from those on the other side. Doing nothing is hardly an option either. I suspect if Superman said "Actually I'm not going to intervene in Afghanistan because the situation is not something I am able to solve," that would not be received well by many people.
Even on a smaller scale, how do superheroes interact with regular domestic politics in places like the UK and US? Should they use their powers against someone like Trump for example? What about other disliked politicians? Everybody is going to expect that superheroes will take their side, and when that doesn't happen, things are quickly going to turn nasty. I simply don't see how superhumans last longer than a year before they are widely despised by non-super humans

People would obviously want to find a way to kill them, or failing that - to do experiments or to somehow steal their powers, or to manipulate them to their cause/side. For them to live normal life, they'll need to hide their powers from public view.

If an actual immortal is found, other people will stop at nothing to get that for themselves or at least figure out how they're living forever.

I bet Superman has already died tones of times. They just keep bringing him back is all. I wouldn’t let anyone bring him back.

I’d throw that Spider-Man into a plasma arc disintegrator while I am at it too.

Wars would be slightly different I think?
I mean, superman could be taken down by a javelin missile, but the USA would require less resources with superman. Just give him some armour and he's invincible
yes I know he's already invincible in lore, but still

How hard would it be for a single superhuman to gain some degree of public trust I wonder. Presuming other superhuman aren't popping up I'd imagine a superman like figure could probably gain a local communities trust fairly quickly but a whole city is another matter entirely.

Nah, most people would be fine. The panic would be limited to governments.

Of course you can kill Superman. He has various well-established weaknesses and does die in several stories.
