In being an American, I am unfamiliar with the Canadian system of doing things. However, i have a quote for our misguided northern brethren in regards to liberty.

" any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security deserves neither, and will lose both."
- Benjamin Franklin

Yup, Harper trampling our freedoms and such. But hey at least we don't have to pay extra taxs on our gas. I mean if we did we would had to pay more at the pump. Sure we would had kept our freedoms, moved towards the legalizting of weed and took huge steps to protect our environment, and not went billions of dollars into debt if we voted in Dion. But..but think of the extra money it would had cost us.

Frankly the Canadian people brought this upon themselfs, they don't care about anything but their own wallet and if Harper will cut the GSP and plundge the country into debt. So what if we end up saving a few cents at the store. Haper and the Consertives are a step backwards for Canada and a step towards the American potlics of attack ads and proimsing the voters anything they want as long as it keeps you in office. If you go behind your back and screw them and the country over later, lower taxs. That didn't work for the U.S. So why do Canadians think it will work for us?

Harper had proved he do anything to stay in office and that he and his party views are out of touch with what Canadians want today. (At least I thought so.) Apathy runs through this country like a disease.

Truer words were never spoken.

Allanea wrote:If it appeases the population by socialist acts, then it is socialism

People really need to learn that socialism entails, prevailingly, the abolition of private property and thus of profit. Universal health care is not "socialist" and does not equate to "socialism". The existence of a welfare state is not "socialist" and does not equate to "socialism". You "libertarians" should try actually reading the works of Marx, Engels and Lenin prior to trashing them.
