i try to avoid procedural step reporting bc most of the time it's not important but in this case it is bc both sides can't agree on amendments (in this case, the key dispute comes from an amendment from Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), who wants a vote on his amendment to extend Title 42 at a 50-vote threshold)

schumer filing cloture means either they reach a deal on votes Thursday or there’s a Friday vote where 10 Republicans s will have to vote with the Dems to break a filibuster to advance the bill

Speaking of immigration, ive only just gave a cursory glance through some of its contents thus far, but I didnt see anything mentioned about border security programs- aside from the vote to extend title 42.

Is there any significant spending being allocated to USBP, ICE, or CBP? I Ask assuming that you've looked into the bill more depth.

$1.5 billion to CBP, $3.6 billion to ICE (who isn’t allowed to use it for detention)

Anyway, voting on the omnibus started this morning, 5 amendment votes have been held so far, 3 of them failed

Well, as far as I can tell it's just a "was previously married to a woman" which isn't an unusual origin story for gay men, so there's that.

But all of these lies have, so far, been about turning Santos into the perfect counterpoint to the liberal theory of the world... he's someone who ticks all these oppressed minority boxes but he's a Trumpist anyway, he ticks all these oppressed minority boxes but he's succeeded anyway... and there is something that needs to be talked about there. Though, again, the evidence for "he lied about being gay" doesn't appear to be very strong.

Have you seen The Wire? Santos' self-reported biography is like the kid the reporter says he interviewed outside the baseball game: it's perfect for the point that's being made in every respect.

If he's fucking everything he's not gay or bi, he's omnisexual and should probably be in sex jail.

A few more consequential ones got through
Amendment allowing states and local governments to use covid relief funds to build infrastructure (unanimous)
Allows seizure and sale of Russian oligarchs’ assets to be transferred to Ukraine for humanitarian and military aid
Protection for Nursing Mothers Act (95-2)
Antitrust legislation increasing merger filing fees, ends the way big corporations can move multistate AG antitrust lawsuits into whatever jurisdiction they prefer (88-8)

It depends on the fees. A couple thousand is not really a big deal. Annoying at best. It’s like Californias fines for water waste. It’s annoying and really does discourage the wealthy.

Also moving to whatever jurisdiction?……that’s a big bonus for corporations.

No, my point is liberals specifically have their little touchstone issues but anything that could implicate them as being the bad guys they jump through hoops to avoid mentioning.

Yeah I like owning them ngl.
But if we want to discuss solutions, that's bleak. Because ultimately, the world has always been and likely always will be an ugly place when it comes to power. How do you think living standards in the west are so high? Hundreds of millions of people overseas need to be exploited to maintain the prosperity of the west today. If you liberated all these people from exploitation, then living standards in the west would collapse (and make no mistake, that entails a greater degree of suffering for the lower classes as well as the upper classes in the west).
I'm sympathetic to socialist narratives that we can achieve relative equality and universal dignity, but it's a pipe dream. The fact is, if the shoe were on the other foot, the oppressed classes of the world today would gladly be the oppressors instead. People aren't content being just equal.
