Trump supporters like to romanticize the 1950s, yet the 1950s wouldn't tolerate most of their boorish attitude towards politics or their profane clothing and signs.

We shouldn't wait for bad businesses to get to this point though. If a business is hurting a community with its malpractice, then it shouldn't be tolerated - regardless of whether its political or not. DeSantis hasn't realized that yet, and I think he's still kind of rising the free market train gang
He is. His antics "against" Disney gave them a tax break and he is supported by the standard GOP megadonors, so he is just as "free market" as Romney. Probably even more so, tbh.
His populism is as fake as Trump's.

Im upset that they've agenda behind their actions. Its not merely education, as you'd like to posit it, its an attempt at normalizing certain cultural practices.
Funny tho, you never seem to address any of my other more pressing points...

The really funny part is that if they’re so dead set on returning to the 50’s, they might want to learn more about the tax rates back then…

So when did DeSantis cite any of those other things when he decided to wield the wrath of god? Or was it all because Disney objected to his legislative homophobia?

Well, that's kind of the point im making. DeSantis only came after Disney once they started opposing him in the culture. Disney has been an evil corporation for years, screwing over millions of people who work for them or who live in communities dependent on them. If DeSantis really wanted to make a stand for moral values and justice, he would have started fighting Disney years earlier - not just when they start to push back on one hot button issue of the culture war.
But he didn't, and thats all we need to know about him

Leftist CRT Critical Race Theory is new and anti Old Family Values, this is why we need Trump and DeSantis 2024 to MAGA - To Make America Great Again.

It’s almost like the GOP likes the idea of worker exploitation.

What's always important to remember though is the pushing of this as some kind of cultural zeitgeist has come from a relatively small amount of radical queer activists and then coopted by liberals who are looking to use it as a political wedge issue.
And the political reaction against it by the other side's cultural warriors and the ultimate policy upshot of vague "return to traditional values" stories tends to delve into things that have actual impacts on real people who have very little to do with all of this, such as attacking rights for ordinary homosexualists and trans people and creating panic narratives around them. These people generally don't own big media channels, don't really appreciate the woke liberal appropriation of their identity and just want to be left alone.
So yes, the constant "drag everywhere" bullshit is annoying but responding by supporting the platforms of these opportunist politicians who always go after the wrong targets is like responding to getting punched by driving a car through an entire crowd of people in the hopes of hitting the person who punched you.

GMS, I feel like your heart is in the right place - BUT, can you name 5 things that Trump did you didn't like? I feel like even great leaders are prone to occasionally fail our expectations in some way, and a reasonable person should be able to spot these failures. Only a psychophant or someone of unhealthy mental disposition could find another human without flaw. So, test yourself, can you name 5 times you disagreed with something Trump did?

Don't get me wrong, I dont want to shove people back in the closet. Some people are just naturally attracted to the same sex, and I wouldn't want them to be unjustly ostracized from society just for that reason. They're deserving equal civility as anyone else.
But like damn, a lot of this shit is just so forced
