Actually cooperation can be selfish. One can help others as long as in the end they get the bigger price of the pie and it serves their own self interests.

The point of capitalism is that everyone serves their own self interest, but in order to do so one must serve the self interests of others.

Cooperation is voluntary. I, and most other capitalists, see no problem with voluntary cooperation at whatever level it may occur. When cooperation becomes mandatory, that is a different story.

If communists took over properties by convincing the owners it was the right thing, or buying the properties from the current owners, they would not make as many friends among the poor or enemies among the rich.
