Terrorism is also a vague term that’s applied to legitimate fighters to harm their reputation, but that doesn’t mean it should be completely legal and encouraged.

"Sedition" is an incredibly dangerous weapon in the state's Arsenal and those who wish the law would be turned against the MAGA crowd either don't know or don't appreciate its history in the US. Sedition was the charge used against war protesters and conscientious objecters during WW1.

The fact is, in daily life, most people aren't super political. I am friends with many republicans, and they are friends with me. If a "civil war" started, I don't think my neighbours would shoot me because I am a Democrat. The reality is that most people so polarized to think that a civil war is inevitable live in echo chambers with only people of their own side living with them. If it ever, god forbid, did happen, it wouldn't be a true civil war. More like some stuff like CHAZ, where some extremists take things to far but hopefully we all forgive each other in the end.

2024 would be the most likely date. I don't think either side will accept losing the election. Of course, I still firmly hope it never happens and suspect it won't, but I was wrong about Ukraine.
