Yes. My friend misses California because of how beautiful it was and the nice weather, but she and her family are better off in Texas since they don't struggle financially there like they did in California.

California, Texas and New York will likely CTE as states with their contemporary boundaries. The Electoral College weight of these 3 states adds onto an already culturally and geographically divided territory. From the fact that by 2030., Latinos will account for simple majority of voters in the U.S., there are two scenarios:

#Furthermore, I do genuinely believe in a portion of my IC; Mexico will re-attain sovereignty over some of the lost territories after the Californian and Texan divisions.
#Furthermore, it is Mexico which further integrates into the U.S. sphere of influence, re-gaining its lost economic development. The U.S. becomes much more Hispanic.

Mexico isn't really stable right now, and I don't think there's a huge movement to rejoin Mexico amongst Mexican-Americans, some of whom are probably refugees/migrants crossing from the border (admittedly, some of them are from Central America, I heard Mexico has their own border crisis with Guatemala)

The California hate thread was last week, go there.

As for its future? Probably fine. The state has a lot going for it despite problems.

California will be the setting of a Mexican and East Asian hybrid empire that will be socially conservative but infrastructurally progressive. Its people will be a mixture of Mexican and Japanese, thus bearing the blood of Aztec warriors and the samurai. Azuturanku (Japanese pronounciation for "Aztlan land") will then gain independence from the now-weakened United States due to the latter's self-inflicted damage of not shifting away from its dinosaurian Anglo-American mindset and soft millennial liberalism. As the product of the Asian and Latin America diaspora Azuturanku becomes the global beacon of internationalism and harmony by not allowing Euro Westernism control it, (white) guilt it or gaslight it.

Assuming they don't have a 180 government wise then it will be a failed state devoid of anyone who could afford to leave. California will be a dry, burned state with the only people living there the homeless, almost homeless, and ultra wealthy with no middle. California is a textbook example of how not to run a state government as well as a textbook example of why not to build urban sprawl in a desert.

As doomed as the rest of the West. Can California (and now by extension, much of the West) probably find ways to fix it's affordability crisis's, rampant homelessness, and staggering inequality? Not in the immediate future, but it's within a distant realm of possibility. But averting the environmental catastrophes (IE worsening drought, massive wildfires, and a total lack of water) that lay ahead? Near impossible.

Hey...here's a fun fact. The cost of housing is going up everywhere. We were already expensive because...well, how many songs are there about going tot Ohio?

So since we were already expensive as housing costs rise across the country ours will still be on the top. Shockingly, we didn't just sit around and wait for you to catch up. So whatever it is you think we're doing to raise the price of housing (letting investment funds by single family homes etc) the rest of you appear to be doing it too. So, how about for a change you throw in on the solution instead of waiting for us to figure shit out for you while you complain about us.

Oh yeah, same with wealth inequality.

So instead of clucking your tongue maybe grab a fucking shovel and get to work.

The water thing is a bit of a joint effort. The climate is changing (we're all in that one together) but we've also mismanaged a great deal. Just me, but as long as we continue to think of this as a drought and not 'the weather now' we're not gonna solve it. We can't develop something that just gets us between rainy seasons because they're not coming back.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

both options in the poll are crap and have nothing to do with reality on the ground, in california or any place else.
the only thing "bleak" is creaping fascism and the hatred of logic, and the high probability of both, bringing about humanaty's extinction.

human nature is neither human nor nature, but a lie told to promote hierarchal systems of belief,
to in other words, tell people what to pretend about what is not known.

there are infinite bumps in the road ahead that could lead anywhere, but the hatered of logic leads only to places that aren't very happy,
and the dominance of aggressiveness is tyranny, regardless of any ideology, belief or even gender, used as an excuse for it.
