That's because New York and New Jersey objectively suck, so it wouldn't make sense to complain when people point out this fact.

California, however, is objectively the best state, so obviously it makes sense that Californians would complain when non-Californians criticize it.

jersey sucks right up until summer comes along and the rest of the country begins their yearly migration to its beaches

also i am wondering what standard we're using for objective here lol

Famine, natural disaster, drought, eventual societal collapse. Same as most other places really, that’s just the future we’ve made for ourselves.

New York (State) has affordable housing and enough water.

New York state is $100,000 above the national average.

Also, it's weird for you all to get so worked up about our water problems. I'm sure the people in Flint wished you cared this much about them. Or Jackson, Mississippi.

Well, I guess 'care' is not the appropriate word since you don't seem to actually give a shit but instead want to celebrate the challenges of others for some weird fucking reason.

New York City metro area is wildly expensive, and it skews all the statewide statistics. The rest of the state is very affordable. It's totally normal to find houses upstate for $50,000 to $100,000.

There is a reason I clarified New York State, not just "New York," because upstate is totally different from NYC metro area.

People who think NYC should be its own state... I'm not sure if I agree, but I understand where they get that thought.

And you're taking my post way more personally than how I meant it. I wasn't going to even rag on Cali if nobody talked trash about NY.

Yeah, there's a reason I specified New York State, too. But you do you. And you joined the chorus, homie. I'm not going to spend a bunch of time trying to sort out your level of commitment to the Two Minute California hate just because you might get sensitive after taking your shots.

When you buy a house, you pay for the one you bought, not whatever is the statistical average for the state. New York has a plentiful supply of affordable housing.

If you're willing to live in California's armpit you can find cheaper housing too. Kinda how it works. Not sure why you think this is special.

The problem this thread is about however, is that objectively speaking, California is gradually becoming not the best US state to live in anymore. Detroit was great for example, up until it wasn't.

California used to have close to the best weather in the world because of it's geographic location, but climate change is making it so that it is unbearably dry and hot for more of each year, with wildfire season lasting longer. People are leaving the state as it's quality of life is declining. There are abundant signs that it is losing its weather supremacy.

What was previously an 80 F day is now 90 F and up.

Jersey Shore

it's a musical only because of the pain-induced screams it inspires in people :)

As long as they leave their atrocious politics behind, Californians are welcome in Texas. Unfortunately, they often like to come here and start the same policies they were fleeing.
