So I did not actually watch the video. Was there a reason those pizza boxes were very conspicuously placed directly front and center? Because it struck me at the time as a very odd thing, and in retrospect it seems incredibly stupid.

Not that I've ever accused tate of an abundance of intelligence. My first exposure to him was his opining that he was "too smart to read." And that told me everything I needed to know. But still. Why center the camera on pizza boxes?

Which doesn't really exist in the truest sense of the word, outside of inheriting a big fortune or winning the lottery. Most people are talking about entrepreneurial income or investment income when they say it is "passive" but really at the end of the day- that requires you to either put in work/effort to make that income materialize, or to already have significant capital to invest with, usually on the order of having $600,000+ minimum to possibly get a higher return than what you'll spend down. If sticking to 4% rule of retirement financing.

Whatever you want to live off of in 1 year, you'll need x20 at least, with that total x2 to fully account for inflation or any devaluing of money/assets.

Most influencers like Andrew Tate make money via selling "courses", and you the customer aren't going to come out ahead if you bought in- because your money is going directly to whoever is selling the course. You're not the one benefiting, outside of whether the advice/content purchased has real life utility or if it doesn't and its a pure scam/rip off.

As one example, if Andrew Tate got just 10,000 people to buy his product for $600, he can expect to pull in around $6,000,000 for that year. If he has a large fanbase cultivated, it can be much more or it matters not if only a small fraction of that audience is "suckered in" to buying from him, because the "grift" scales well if he is well known enough as to get some demand.

The problem is that most income sources don't work out well automatically. It isn't like collecting dividends or bank interest on a large/massive balance.

Rent is not passive in that you have to manage the property and all the bullshit that comes along with owning it, like doing repairs/maintenance and to pay the taxes and mortgage on it (if applicable). Stocks aren't passive because you have to do the research on corporate balance sheets and look at if its trajectory is good or bad. If your company goes obsolete, you'll probably lose your money in it over the long term. Apple went up, but Circuit City or JC Penny went downward until those places were gone or nearly gone.

Income which is passive in the truest sense of the word, is the most advantageous economic position possible, which is why it simply doesn't ever happen in real life more often than not. It may for a short time, but something along the way disrupts that without any actions on your part.

Harry Potter was a cash cow in its heyday, but once it became old news, its income obviously went down to reflect its new status as no longer #1 in its genre.
