Anti police is actually gaining more support. Recently in a Phoenix suburb a bunch of parents stormed a police line in front of a school after there was a report of a school shooter.

The would be shooter was captured but Uvalde has severely damaged the image most Americans had about police and now many are not trusting them.

The democrats would be stupid to give that up

Have you actually heard any Democratic politicians pushing for the idea?

No?

That's because it's a Republican talking point. I'm not sure how Democratic politicians are supposed to "drop" a policy they never held.

National states isn't real life and in a primary or possible general between me and Tarsonis I would win if they were the incumbent mayor or Governor That quote of "You'll have to deal with power outages and food shortages while the union works out their issues with management. I will be sending pizza to them in solitary and so should you " would be an ad blasted all over the state.

There would be ads showing the suffering and I would defeat him in landslide.

I would vote for the person who helps the workers fight for better pay, better working conditions, and better hours. So that means not you.

Your attitude isn’t helping either. Essential workers deserve to be paid fairly and not work excess hours. Nurses are on strike in MN because of these reasons, and after dealing with the pandemic, they deserve a fair raise. We are already extremely under staffed at our hospitals.

My sisters hospital in Georgia was paying their nurses about $150 an hour during COVID and that not counting overtime pay and other things.

Actually, a party or at least a member of the party that promises to fight for better conditions for the average workers tends to do better at elections. Why? Because they are not forcing them to be slaves.

Nurses didn’t get anything but words of appreciation. There is a bonus that the State legislature passed, but it’s hardly anything. Because Republicans think that the only thing nurses did during the pandemic is post TikTok videos.

If someone asks me to call them by a certain pronoun I will respect it.

They are plenty of other reforms you can do without defending the police. I've gone over some before. Banning encryption of dispatch, having civilian reviews boards, bringing back beat cops (which means officers walking the street) holding community meetings, getting rid of the military equipment police have to name a few.

You don't "say" things the same way Tucker Carlson doesn't "say" he doesn't like brown people or doesn't want to deport illegals or lock kids in cages.

You don't say it outright, you just have a penchant for dancing around saying the words in a coherent sentence and instead support the legislation that would get you those things.

That's my read anyway.
"Why do you fear? Soon you will not fear. Soon you will not hope. Soon you will not dream. Come with us. The City!TM calls to you, it hears you. it loves you, all that is you is in the City!TM. If you are afraid, we shall listen to it together."

And you've been told time and again (and routinely ignore it) how those "reforms" are pitifully weak at best, empty and hollow at worst. Police don't prevent crime from happening and they rarely solve crimes after the act. It'd be more worthwhile to pull some of their funding and throw it at, say, education or mental health - studies have shown that better opportunities that education and a more educated populace leads to lower crime rates. Similarly with access to mental healthcare (or access to healthcare in general). Why continue throwing money at something that doesn't prevent/solve crime when we could better use that money towards things proven to result in lower crime rates?

It's certainly not a common thing, and I don't understand why Lumen is acting like it's a core tenant of the Democratic Party that they need to drop (because it's not that mainstream). I've got some socialist circles I'm in locally where it's commonplace to introduce oneself with name and pronouns, as a form of inclusivity. It works for us, but I've not seen it outside of small bubbles like that.

Only time I'd seen it before was the one year I spent at UNCA - it was common practice there as well to introduce oneself with name and pronouns.

Of course, I'm not suggesting it needs to become commonplace. I suppose I'm merely pointing out to Lumen that it's not this big scary monster he's got to be afraid of and it doesn't harm him if people choose to introduce themselves with their pronouns in tow. Also, it's not some Democratic Party policy that is trying to be pushed on people, I dunno where he's gotten that idea.
