Which is why the checks are focused on fraud through the mail in system. Voter ID is just a stopgap, to ensure that we can account for the number of ballots and show that each one came from a genuine voter.

I've thought for a long while that Fetterman was more vulnerable than the pundits believed. It's not just the stroke, it's a litany of issues that Oz and the broader GOP have been extremely disciplined in zeroing in on and attacking.

PA is one of those peculiar races where neither candidate should want to be the one talked about the most. In the summer, it was Oz, for his oddities, NJ residence, and elitist mannerisms. Now it's Fetterman, and it's not boding well.

No it isn’t. It’s a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.

And now for Number 15.

And eight states conduct all voting by mail only.

Oregon has been doing it for 22 years and had a fraud rate of only .00006% among all ballots cast from 2000-2019.

You verify your identity, address, and citizenship when you register to vote. Then you sign your ballot and that signature is compared to what’s on record for you and flagged for verification if there’s an issue. Ballot tampering on a scale large enough to sway an election would be very difficult to do. Someone would need to break into locked ballot drop boxes without being seen somehow, or manage to track down every stray ballot sent to the addresses of people who have moved or died (because yes, mistakes do happen, there’s no 100% foolproof system) and then perfectly forge all their signatures. Even then I’m not sure they’d have enough to affect the overall outcome.

No it's not. It's an attempt to disenfranchise voters. Don't lie. Everyone knows. This is like trying to pretend Santa is real when your kids are in college.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

It’s definitely easier to influence results by keeping someone from voting by say, making them go to a physical location they may or may not be able to easily get to, stand in a line for an unknown amount of time during normal work hours on a Tuesday, and pay for photo ID prior which, if you’re living paycheck to paycheck, may be difficult to afford, than to get your hands on enough physical ballots and forge enough signatures well enough that they’re not flagged.

If states were really committed to making voting accessible to everyone they wouldn’t be putting restrictions on it when mailing ballots is easy and fraud rates are incredibly low.

When I registered I was able to use my birth certificate, social security card, high school student ID, and mail. From a quick Google search it seems a lot of states require photo ID that is government issued, or a student ID from a university, to be presented every time you vote. Both government ID and college cost money. $60 is a lot when you’re poor. Quite a few states seem to allow high school IDs or mail with your name on it, but still.

I don’t. And the main reason is because debates really aren’t the decider they once where. Besides ya got two weeks and Oz definitely screwed up with his own things particularly on abortion where he pissed off everyone.
