No, of course they wouldn't. One of the reasons the have money is that they know how to hold onto it, as well as grow it. As I said, just a point of comparison. Something like "it's the size of Texas, Mr President.".

He was in the KGB but he wasn't a communist. He was promoting Russia's interests just like he does now. These people did promote the socialist fairy-tale to gullible westerners, but they didn't actually drank their own koolaid. In any case, they ditched that narrative for a nationalist one a long time ago, so it wouldn't be fair to call them crypto commies.

Apparently, the current issue with the offensive isn't a Russian counter attack, it's dealing with the high number of Russian POWs.

In 3 days Ukraine just caused the collapse of an entire front. According to my rough approximation over Google Earth, Ukraine captured an area the size of ~1,000 km² (excluding the Horokhovatka - Oskil area which is still murky). If Izyum and Oskil have truly fallen, the area increases to ~1,400 km².

If I were the Russian theater commander right now I'd shoot myself.

Needless to say everything west of the Oskil river is lost on the Kupiansk - Izyum axis. Velykyi Burluk, another major logistical hub, is also under threat of Ukrainian advances.

To say that this breakthrough dramatically changed the strategic calculus would be an understatement. This offensive - at first a push to Kupiansk - may actually lead to the Russians abandoning Kharkiv Oblast entirely, if Ukraine can keep up the momentum.

The house of cards is collapsing rapidly.
