You know what’s also highly dangerous and illegal (to mine)? Asbestos. And yet 1.3 million people in the US are at risk of health affects related to asbestos, such as asbestosis (long term fibrosis caused by asbestos fibers) and mesothelioma (highly fatal cancer) among a plethora of other not so nice things

The problem with banning something so widespread, is that the existing supply still remains, and while unrelated to asbestos, the demand is often unshaken or barely moved. We saw it during Prohibition and we’re seeing it in the War in Drugs. All it does is result in a global decrease in quality of life
