Alabama should have lost that game and it seems like this will be another year where Alabama consistently has one or two players will them to a win, which is unfortunate. I think they need that 10-3/11-3 kick in the pants every once in a blue moon to instill that genuine hunger for a championship in their players. Just my $0.02.

My takeaway from South Carolina--Arkansas is that South Carolina are early offensive rhythm away from being a big problem in the East. There was a good deal of improvement from the OL, especially in the second half, and our receiving corps and running backs are as good as anyone. Defense needs to step up, but if the second half Gamecocks are the ones that consistently show up, *whoo*.

Didn't watch the afternoon or evening slate super intently, but of what I did watch: Texas A&M gonna Texas A&M. You cannot consistently play to your opponents like Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M do and hope to compete for a championship. Just not how it works. Major props to Appalachian State and Marshall though. Two teams that show up when it matters.

Lastly, gotta think this is it for Scott Frost. Georgia Southern are not a bad team, but this game should not be close for a Nebraska in year five of the Frost era.

May pop back up in here with a top 25 once we have all the results (thanks for playing the 10:15 EST slot, Baylor!). On a side note, I think an NS Top 25 would be a fun thing for this thread to start with, and might get some more engagement week-to-week and mid-week.

I still think Sarkisian is a bad hire. Tom Herman would have won that one by two touchdowns with how badly Alabama screwed up that game

Pretty big stretch but considering I’ve seen Alabama screw up that much and lose in worse fashion, I won’t argue. Bad offensive line play and no playmakers at receiver I can accept, stupid and unnecessary penalties I can’t. Especially when they come from an experienced defense that knows better. Of course this has happened in the past this early in the season (see 2015 and 2020) and Bama ended up being the best team in the nation. Hopefully they get things straightened out before going to Arkansas in a few weeks.

Scott Frost is gone! The bad man can't hurt me any more.

--

I went to the Cal-Davis - South Dakota State game on Saturday. SDSU was up 24-10 in the 4th quarter when Davis scored but had the PAT blocked, 24-16. Then Davis recovered the onside kick and scored another touchdown, but had to go for 2 and couldn't convert. The second onside attempt was recovered by SDSU so the Bunnies hung on and won 24-22, well worth the price of admission.

Reading all these media posts you would think Alabama just lost to an NAIA school by 6 touchdowns. When will they learn NOT to make judgements about teams in literally the second week of the season? Although I already know that Kansas will go undefeated and be in the playoff after starting 2-0, but we're not talking about me here.

I mean, Alabama almost losing to an unranked school is big news. Texas is a Tier 1 school like they used to be. For Alabama to barely win to them make me worry about Alabama after they get into the harder part of their schedule. I mean, this week SHOULD be easy for them with ULM, next week SHOULD be a cakewalk with Vandy. But, how will their fare against Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Tennessee for the 3 weeks after that? Saben should figure something out and quick.

Also,
The D2 poll finally dropped. Probably did yesterday but I was in the middle of a 14 hour double.

I'll get that added into the Poll Post and get that put up ASAP.

Talking about Bama nearly losing to an unranked is whatever. My main issue is with the media doing this bullshit with counting Alabama out of everything this early in the season. Because surely they know by now not to do that. I know 2015 was 7 years ago but you gotta learn your lesson at some point. But all these sports pundits have a collective IQ of maybe 12 so I can't say I'm surprised.

And above all, it just sounds like people are more willing to discredit Alabama than they are to credit Texas. The Longhorn defense played very well and was the main reason Alabama struggled so much on offense. I know Texas has been the butt of jokes for over a decade but don't disrespect them like that. They were saying, unironically, that "Texas is back" before the game and now that's it's played and Texas lost they suddenly aren't back anymore? Typical fashion that Bama's opponents, good or bad, are treated I guess.

It's Bobby Petrino coming back to Arkansas that's kind of juicy. One wonders just how bad Arkansas will beat up on the Bears...

They keep showing that replay on ESPN during the LSU game. That was amazing.

Also, Geaux Tigers. Beating Mississippi State 31 to 16.

So the media stories about how this Alabama team was complete dogwater and that ULM would upset them again like in 2007 were apparently false. That's news to me because I thought the sports media was always right. TMYK.

Auburn lost as well so that makes the day better.

So, aparently now there is a AFCA Division IIl Poll.

If anyone wanted to pick up and do the Poll and Scores for DIII schools they can. I already do the three others and that takes a bit of time for me to do.

Seriously? Montana State gets a free pass for a 40-point loss to a DI-A school but Nova gets dropped 5 positions for practically the same?

Still find myself laughing at Auburn’s decimation at the hands of Penn State

41-12, still a beautiful score

Roll Tide, that is all

Appy State should've been ranked. Not even close.
They also should have won their game against UNC, but that's beside the point.
...And I feel like I'm clinging to a cloud!
