Georgia Guidestones Destroyed

The Georgia Guidestones was a granite monument with inscriptions meant to guide mankind written in several languages from across the world. The anonymity of the commissioner of the monument, as well as the messages inscribed, have been the subject of conspiracy theories. On 6 July 2022, one of the four large upright slabs was destroyed by an explosion. The monument was deemed unsafe and was dismantled the same day. Before it's destruction, there were other acts of vandalism to the monument.

I personally found the Guidestones interesting before their destruction. What does NS General think about this event?

I'm not convinced that's a clear argument for eugenics. "Diversity" generally isn't a goal of eugenicists. Rather the opposite, conformity to a vision of what the ideal human should be.

Controlling who can and who cannot reproduce so as to improve the species is exactly what eugenics is.

So this was a weird, and possibly eugenicist, monument that had few aesthetic virtues and offered dubious advice. So I wouldn't have been too upset if some committee somewhere decided to tear it down. Although that probably would never have happened, because (for some reason) the thing seemed to attract tourism.

But having crazy conspiracy theorists blow it up because they think it's part of a crazy conspiracy theory puts me in an odd mood. It bothers me that people who should rightly realize that they're idiots, are instead probably feeling very smug right now.
