Don't worry, Norm "Senate Seat Nazi" Coleman is likely to intend to mount a federal challenge.

So THAT's where Al Gore went! He changed his name, joined the GOP, lost another close election and complained about it again!

And we all know Gore WON; that's why the case where the SCOTUS rolled over was entitled "Bush V. Gore" and not vice versa.

so, does this actually change things, or will the vichy dems still be too busy wetting themselves over the thought that the republicans and corporations might be mean to them to bust some heads and get shit done?

Sadly, it's not going to change a thing. Even with 59 Democrats and one neocon Independent, they don't have enough votes for cloture (which is what they're complaining about: Republicans threaten to filibuster and Reid folds like a house of cards). There are too many Democrats who vote with the GOP more than they do the DNC.

Nothing is concrete in Washington. They don't need cloture; they need the appearance of being to be able to pull off cloture. Which they have with Franken seated.

I don't much trust the Democrats to face issues. If they faced issues they wouldn't be politicians.

Really, though, if they can't manage cloture on an issue (which really depends on how the moderates swing), they should force those in favor of a filibuster to actually fucking do it. None of this shit:

Sometimes? We've got more than a few politicians who are Democrats in name only. We're working to correct that.

What are they going to do? Government Healthcare, not bloody likely. Legalize gay marriage? Doubt it. End DADT? No, probably not.
