B. BfmV isn't death metal, they're thrash and emo.

Cannibal Corpse is death metal, it's kinda in the name.

I can only post lyric videos because their videos and album covers are NSFW and I don't want a warning.

The song in the OP came out in 2005. It wouldn’t work in the 1980s.

The thing is that the death metal morality scare happened in the 80s not the 00s in the 00s it was all about rap.

So your scenario would’ve made more sense if you had “Like Toy Soldiers” or “Lose yourself”

Also BfmV didn’t release any songs in the Americas until 2006 and didn’t become popular in the Americas until 2008 which doesn’t fit with your timeline

This might belong in the hot take thread, but didn't the religiously infected always have something to complain about? First it was godless jazz, then heathen Rock'n'roll, and so on. I bet there was a time where the Minuet was considered scandalous by those types. While the mentioned band is emo-corecrap, it's just a matter of picking the right band for the right time, the supposition works in any decade.

In the early 00s (the time OP sets this in) rap was the genre of choice to hate. So pump out some Eminem, Lil Wanye, or Snoop and get rocking

Was it? Never had much contact with these types, even though I actually grew up in that age. Heh, the hiphoppers with their silly baseball-hats worn backward and their oversized trousers. Hell, that was the time I discovered real music. Listened to Motörhead live, and stumbled drunkenly into a jazz-club one night. Acquired my hearing damage by insisting on being first row while Napalm Death was playing - I have a vivid reminder which speaker was closer now, in hindsight it might not have been the best idea. Drunk teenage me found it awesome.

You're not following along Kefka.

The metal scare and Satanic Panic happened in the 80's and early 90's, not in bloody '05. We were long past that by then.

1. How have you been impacted by the students’ performance of that song at a worship event?
5 minutes of my life I will never get back. Not my style of music.

2. Is it an okay thing to do?
As much as anything else in this dystopic shithole

3. What else can you tell me about those students?
Not impressed by their musical selection

4. What kind of disciplinary measures if any, should be taken?

Make them learn the Miles Davis Catalog for next year
The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

The most fundamental problem of politics is not the control of wickedness but the limitation of righteousness.

Aw, what an adorable world you live in where Bullet For My Valentine is death metal.

And a fistbump to Ethel for reminding me to put on some Miles Davis.

So literally again while I was in high school. You do remember that the US was in Iraq from 03 to 2011 right? And then again from 2013 to 2021.

Still the band picked isn’t even death metal, death metal is more of Venom, Slayer, Obituary, Possessed, Morbid Angel, In Flames, God Macabre and others

If we're being pedantic, neither Venom nor Slayer are death metal or approaching it. They're more thrash, while the former is essentially proto-black metal.
