We even had a thread on constitutional amendments which was very fun and interesting, but that was a while ago. How about replacing the senate, with a Council of Governors, a House of Representatives, the President and Vice President of the nation. The Council of Governors can propose laws to the House of Representatives as group of Governors or individually and they administer the laws of the House of Representatives?

I don't know why it has to be a political argument when we can just look at the Constitution, compare it to every other developed country, and say "Oh fuck we might need to do something" and then agree that we should do something to fix that issue.

It shouldn't even be political, we should just take the route of other developed nations in the world, and throw in plenty of good amendments for the benefit of the people.

thankfully i live in a state where the lgbt+ panic defense has been banned but i don't trust youngkin and the general assembly to not overturn that law

i want to move out of this shithole as fast as possible. i believe the collapse of the US would be a good thing and personally cannot wait for it to happen

The biggest problem is the Second Amendment (which shouldn’t be a thing if courts are going to take a situational historical endorsement of militias in the 18th century and interpret it to mean broad guarantees that people can permanently own handguns capable repeating and automatic fire).

Everything else is fine. There’s a lot of anger in US society and the gridlock system fueling bipartisan hatred helps the people redirect that in a healthy way. It’s preferable to people actually fighting it out. Instead they can elect politicians to provoke and poke at each other, frustrating each other at every turn, and launching theatrical antics like filibusters and ad hominems.

This is the American political culture. After Trump, you can also expect (now that precedent had been set) for every other president to start suing the electoral committees and states should they fail to get re-elected. This is considered debatably good sport in the US system while in many other places, it’s not.
