What about those other migs they have. Cant they overpowet the u.s air force?

Their performance in Ukraine shows a lot of deficiencies. I think we're safe.

With that said, the Felon is not an ugly plane. I do like the looks behind her.

Oh yeah aesthetically I love the plane. Honestly that's the case with most Soviet and post-Soviet planes for me tbh, the MiG-29 is just chefs kiss.

Oh, hell yeah the Fulcrum is sexy.

I find the F-4 Phantom to have a strange attraction of her own. One of ruggedness and brute force. Beautiful, in a way. And the largest distributor of MiG parts.

I pick the KF-21 just because I have a lot of Korean appliances and they are really good. It’s honestly the only metric I can go by as anything else would be speculation.

I do think, however, that this will probably be the last generation of manned fighter planes. Robot combat wasps or some such are likely to replace traditional fighters (probably autonomous). The advantages of not carrying a meat pilot are just too great - not to mention how much it would simplify carrier ops. (Not having to worry about retrieving downed pilots etc.)

Or Russia just isnt a super advanced or rich nation.

Its got the economy of at best Spain, and yet is trying to fund the "second best" military in the world.

i heard online russia has tracked it and destroyed one over Ukraine. I think on 4chan????

Even if Ukraine did have any F-22s, I have trouble believing that a bunch of basement goblins shot down the first F-22 ever and nobody has heard about it. And if you’re suggesting it was a non-combatant American plane, then that would have been even bigger news.

The russians have roughly 5k military aircrafts.

The Americans have roughly 13k. And while the Russians have a whopping 4 %th generation aircraft, the Americans have over two thousand F35's.

So no.

E: Mistaken on the amount of F35's in existence, let alone how many America has, but my point still stands. The Americans outclass the Russians, and everyone else, when it comes to air power.

How does the US have 2000 examples of a jet that only 800 have been built for all customers globally?

And there’s only 5 of them. There were six but one crashed.

Which is funny because in Top Gun: Maverick (good movie btw highly recommend) has more operational su57’s than currently exist

Misread the numebrs, "planned" instead of "built".

Still has more 5th generation jets than Russia does, and still has more jets than Russia does period. So my point still stands. And it has greater capacity to produce them than Russia does.

I gotta disagree. The F-16 is the greatest combat jet ever made

Bit early to say, as there are very few of them (5, I think, with procurements for 76) and they've never been deployed in an operation.

From what we can get from pictures, it's going to have a bigger RCS, especially in the front and rear aspect, than the F-22 or the F-35.
As for maneuverability, it's likely to be excellent - which, coupled with good IR missiles, make for a formidable dogfighter, and it's bound to be very good at BVR too.
So far, though, it's still basically on paper.

The F-15 is likely the best fighter jet ever made. The bugger was designed more than 50 years ago and it's still unbeaten in combat iirc, having been deployed in lots of conflicts.

may i suggest to the maker of present thread, i ask a thread pool about the perceived chance (not about the factual judgement, not about the public’s approval) of the so called “tempest” fighter to happen.

you can see wikipedia. fighter plane can be said for years thirthies, or later (‘30-‘36). pool may include, to give tip, a yes and a no; or a no, yes britain alone, yes with all countries (italy, germany, sweden).

They have fired at least one cruise missile in combat in Syria. No great feat, but they have been deployed.

I meaaaaaaaan, everyone has fired a cruise missile in Syria. My neighbor's dog probably fired a cruise missile in Syria tbh.

Seriously, though, Syria is the world's testing ground, so it makes sense it got deployed there. Still nothing impressive.

All countries, and fighter jets from 1945 onward. Like actual jets. From all countries.
