Would you buy any of these combat dinosaurs?

1. Yes, I would try to bid for one or more of the dinosaurs, with the dinosaurs, I would have the means to influence the next world war/big regional conflict while pocketing billions.

2. I would leave the auction. Dinosaurs are useless in the modern battlefield. They would literally get shot down within seconds of deployment in a modern battlefield even if your enemies had nothing but Somali grade AK-47s.

Would it be worth it to bid in the millions for them though? Or only for a substantially discounted price?

Millions for a single one or for multiple? K-9 units are already expensive- an explosive detection expert dog “costs” the US Army around 150 grand.

I don't know. It's just a thought experiment. A slight bit of aside.

Scientists believe that the Tyrannosaurus rex had the largest olfactory regions of most dinosaurs.

I'd purchase young individuals, and make sure they're raised around humans and kept well fed and utilise them as drug sniffers in place of dogs. Watch drug smuggling through airports drop to zero. Try smuggling cocaine when you've got to pass through the sniffer tyrannosaurus.

The logistics of trying to transport, house, and feed them after I buy the dinosaurs in this hypothetical will probably cost about what I paid. And there's no guarantee I'll find a buyer - outside of maybe private exotic zoos in Dubai. '

Selling conventional arms to shady characters is both more profitable and more secure.

Stupid me suddenly thought, "what if the T. rex snorts the stuff?!" For a moment, I forgot those are in sachets...They do use sachets for illegal substances, right?

This has probably been said before but you do realzie that dinosaurs are just animals, not monsters right?

Maybe a thousand years agao a Triceratops would be a good war animal like elephants are, but just like we dont still ride elephants into battle in the 21st centuey because any modern weapon system would kill them very easily, the same would be for dinosaurs. Doesnt matter how much genetic editing or enhancements they have.

Add on top of that the fact that any non-avian dinosaurs youd have would be wild animals, not domesticated or semi-domesticated.

OP is implying they are cloned in a similar way to the method used in Jurassic Park. Dragons have never existed, or at least we haven't found their fossils.

Would he still use the Alps? Or would he alter his strategy and use flat terrain since he has dinosaurs?

Would they be relevant against arrows and swords?

Either you think the failure of war elephants means a larger wild animal would change anything or you think laser pointers can stop arrows and both are funny for different reasons.

I feel dinosaurs are a bit too modern for me.

What we really need to do is bring back species wiped out by the Permian extinction. Imagine an army of dimetrodons supplemented by a marine force of massed trilobites - that would really be something.

Can I buy the dinosaurs and use them for something other than combat? Cos dinosaurs are cool and I'm sure there are ways to get good use out of them, but using them in combat does not seem like the best use.
