The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

The most fundamental problem of politics is not the control of wickedness but the limitation of righteousness.

Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That..that's about it."

First Mate is female. Females are not to be trusted.

70% of my co-workers are women, all of which are quite pleasant people. The only co-workers I've ever had problems with were men, incidentally.

Man, this is a tough one. In a situation like this, your mind starts racing and even inconsequential details seem to line up into some grand conspiracy. That said, I'd say it's the informant. It's too much of a coincidence that rumours of mutiny begin to spread shortly after he shows up, although this is somewhat called into question by the fact that he's the one who told you about the plot in the first place. Even so, I think he's the most likely suspect given his recent manner; he could very well be a pirate hunter who's managed to convince some of the crew to turn you in with the promise of financial reward (which the Act of Grace did provide for).

I will honor the oldest of pirate techniques and a hallmark of a legendary family.

I will make port at the nearest such venue.

Further, a woman who rose to the rank of First Mate during the Golden Age of Piracy has probably proven her worth as a pirate a thousand times over. Pirates were reputedly quite egalitarian, but it was still the 18th Century, and women would mostly not have been allowed aboard at all except as prisoners to be ransomed, and then under close guard to keep the men from fighting over her. The famous Mary Read and Anne Bonny both disguised themselves as men while at sea.

The Boatswain is the obvious choice, but since I already don't like the guy I cannot eliminate the possibility that my personal feelings may be clouding my judgment. Plus, I cannot be seen as playing favorites (or in this case, playing un-favorites). I will not do anything that the crew may perceive may be motivated by dislike, personal sentiments, or any other kind of emotion. My crew of rough, callous seafaring brigands will surely perceive this as a critical weakness.

This creates problems for my leadership style, as I can only control them through the appearance of intimidation and calculated ruthlessness. The fact that some of them are planning a mutiny in the first place already speaks to the fact that this strategy is failing. I must act quickly to salvage it.

Execute all the suspects, immediately. No torture will be used to emphasize it's nothing personal. They will die quickly. The rest of the crew will be apprised as to why this action was carried out, in reasonable, impersonal language.

Collective punishment will ensure self-policing among the ranks. The rest of the crew members will actively squash future conspiracies themselves rather than run the very real risk of being collectively punished along with the would-be mutineers.

I've had equal problems with male and female coworkers, apprentices, and subordinates. I think there are pros and cons to both.

My male crew members are likelier to get into spur-of-the-moment pissing contests. They're likelier to be careless on the job, and have workplace accidents. Most technically incompetent workers are men.

My female crew members are much more prone to gossip. They're likelier to cause serious personal divisions at the workplace that affect job performance. But they cause fewer accidents and tend to be more competent workers.

So, it looks like to me that men cause more accidents but less personal drama, women cause more personal drama but fewer accidents. I'm speaking in broad generalities, of course, and it probably varies depending on your field.
