Fire in Bangladesh, Who's Next?

Postby Aursi » Sun Jun 05, 2022 12:31 pm

Yesterday Night, at around 11 PM, a fire started at a Depot in Sitakundu, Chittagong of Bangladesh. Chittagong is a port city. So there're depots on the port. The fire is predicted to be caused from Chemicals. The Fire Sevice couldn't imagine the ammount of Chemicals in the Depot. Thats why they used Water, which caused the fire to spread more. After 24 hours of the fire, there are still explosions happening here and there. 49 people have been declared dead. More than 250 people injured.

Similiarly, a fire happened in the Port of Beirut in Lebanon. These type of fires happen normally in poor Third World Countries. In Bangladesh, many people don't even know about the fire. But if it was in a developed country, everybody would know and everything would've been more drastic. But the Bangladesh Fire System is so bad that fires break out very often. In every month there's a fire. So the people in Bangladesh are used to it.

I would like to hear everyone's opinions. (Mods I'm sorry if its not okay)

Interesting topic, these fires seem dangerous, and sounds like more awareness about them should be sent out

So you mean that they didn't know what was inside the depot? That's quite an error of judgement.

The cause can be one of the below,

1. They didn't know what was in the Depots.
2. They did know there were chemicals but they panicked and used water.
3. They didn't know that water helps fire spread.

So my first point is correct. The depots are so poorly managed that they label Hydrogen Peroxide as something else. It wasn't the fire service's fault. Its the fault of the owner. And the owner doesn't even want to speak. This is corruption at its highest level.

To be fair-ish, in hindsight, they should've not used water against the flames.

They didn't know what was in there, so they used waters.
