If the UK wants to abandon imperialism in a democratic way, it should withdraw the occupation forces from the cyprus lands. Cornwall's idea of independence is a mistake, just as they left the European Union. liberate overseas territories first.

I discussed Kernow independence a couple of years ago on the basis that The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate legally seperate from the dominion of the Monarch and that the Stannary Parliament is still extant despite not being called 1753, with Sir Nicholas Bacon having succeeded to the Lord Warden of the Stannaries in 2006.

55% support for Cornish national identity I think should be sufficient to gain a referendum vote on devolution of parliamentary powers

Every town-nay, every person independent from London! But that also means that everyone will have to setup their own constitution, tax policies, border policies, armed forces, and diplomatic relations with John down the street, so that may be a bit of a hassle if each person wants a seat at the UN

Is this just some attempt at a passive-aggressive protest about not getting to make more whiny threads about Northumbria?

I dont think there is any real viable or large scale support for Cornish Independence so best they could maybe do in the far future is a bit of autonomy. Im pretty indifferent on it personally, i wouldnt really care that much if they magically became independent tomorrow or not.

Lol, nah. Britain should at BEST be divided into it's constituent countries, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, (given to Ireland) and England. That's as far as it goes. Cornwall? No. Northern England? No. Southern England? No. London? No. At this point you're splitting sand grains, man. What's next? I seriously wonder if you have some deep hatred for the UK, with all these threads.

Corn coming from the old english term of horn or headland in reference to the Peninsula (and referencing the brythonic tribe called the Cornovii (meaning people of the peninsula) who lived there) and wall which comes from the old english exonym wealh (coming from walhaz) which is the same word we get Welsh from meaning foreigner but that’s not deeply relevant. Effectively the name means Wales of the Horn or Wales of the Headlands and the people who live there are Cornish, people of the horn(headlands). The Cornish name Kernow comes from the same roots albeit from it’s celtic roots.

Corn comes from the proto-germanic word kurnam meaning small seeds in reference to any grain or cereal which would become korn in old english before morphing again into corn. It’s why it’s called barleycorn despite not being at all related to maize which is what most north Americans mean when they say corn. Of course deeply simplified.
