Not will Alex Scott, Mark Chapman, Micah Richards or even Jermaine "he'll do anything" Jenas.

Even putting aside the politics for a moment, who do even get to present the show that isn't a mate of at least one of them and would probably not do it because of that?

It would be mildly amusing in the wake of Mr Lineker's comments if the BBC was reduced to having a German host MOTD.

Jurgen Klinsmann, anyone?

The grauniad previously suggested this might be a way for Mr Lineker to avoid a 5 million quid tax bill. Far be it for me to question his motives, and I'll leave it to others to decide if the Guardian is onto something or not.

Daft hyperbole aside - comparing the policies to Nazi germany does nothing but trivialise the atrocities of that era and he's an idiot for doing so - as a principle, I don't have a problem with him saying what he wants, but I wouldn't want someone to lose their job for being an idiot.

What happened in the 1930's in Germany began with marginalisation and removing the protection of law from minorities.

What the government is doing is very much the language the Nazi's used back then. I hope they don't have the same intent but the language they are using should very much be called out.

Apparently the BBC has bowed to right wing pressure and decided to broadcast a David Attenborough programme on the environment only iplayer to avoid a right wing backlash.
The Guardian report is inaccurate.

It reports that the sixth episode of the series was pulled.

However, the original press article states there were only ever 5 episodes. And the WWF, one of the co-producers confirmed it is a separate product.

Now, why it's on iplayer, instead of one digital telly might be up for some speculation.

It would certainly be a lovely additional corner to this particular square that the BBC has found itself trying to hammer a circle into.
Gary Lineker references aside this is a massive own goal at a time when Fiona Bruce is under further fire for her crap moderation of Question Time.

Not only have they bent to right wing pressure on Lineker, they also have quietly moved the first episode of a new Attenborough show to iPlayer only. How do they fuck it up this badly so quickly. You are pissing off not only the legions of football fans, but also the legions of Attenborough fans. That man is an incredible individual, we are lucky he is still here to describe the stories of the natural world so brilliantly, and they've ushered him into a corner because it might upset some part of the political spectrum. What the hell happened?

Authoritarian conservative / reactionary maybe, fascist or nazi perhaps.... the lines between the two on cultural / ethnic grounds is loose. Economically: no.
