Touché. Easy for an American like me to forget that the peers aren't what they used to be.
An alternate China where Mao and the Communists never came to power and Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek stayed in office until his death in 1979 (RL death was in 1975.) The present regime is naturally much less democratic and more militaristic than that of RL Taiwan.

It's a shame the police don't employ the same vigour with other protestors, such as the ones blocking traffic or the one's who pull down statues.

Very easy for the cops when people have made an appointment with them to get arrested.

That's true.

Even so, a bunch of physically-unthreatening people literally sitting down in the middle of the road shouldn't be hard to arrest.

Neither should a bunch of people proudly committing vandalism while recording it on their smartphones.

Remember, there’s nothing more symbolic of modern Britain than a man in a golden coach being driven down a road where the potholes are filled with wet sand because the local council can’t afford to fix them.

It’s disgusting.

Photos of Charles and Camilla from the coronation pageantry remind me of those photos where people stick their heads through the seaside cardboard cutouts.

I don't think Nigel is crying at all. I think Nigel is very satisfied over sinking the British ship of state in the current quagmire.

While UKIP crashed, Reform UK didn't seem to benefit much from the anti-Conservative voting. I guess the UK voting public has moved on.

In my opinion, a bad call.

Did I said something about how the excessive use of force feeds the Kremlin propaganda machine? Oh wait, I did. However, I should add that the whole Public Order Act 2023 feeds the Kremlin propaganda machine as well.

I do not consider myself British under the current circumstances. Braverman, feel free to deport me to the Republic of Ireland and then we will both leave each other alone.

Weirdly it seems like some of the ex-Tory faithful round here went to the Greens solely for shared opposition to large scale development in the green belt.

Dunno if that will hold up in a national election, mind.

I didn't even watch it myself, I've been under a very disjointed schedule taking care of sick bottle babies(foster kittens) who need fed every 4-5 hours, so I just didn't have the energy to watch. Still, it's over at least so we can move back to council news in NI.
