They wouldn’t have been a coup.

Rules are rules. if you don't meet the requirements your not on the ballot that simple.

Sure, whatever you say.

should the five Republican contenders for Governor of Michigan have been allowed on the ballot despite being tossed for not having enough valid signatures?

I think I asked a legit question.

Those tossed off the ballot did not meet the signature requirements.

Care to admit the real reason you have a hard-on for rules shadily enforced to keep the Green Party off the ballot in North Carolina but when it comes to Trump winning the electoral college in 2016, you'd rather the electors defied the rules/outcome?

Well, he did lose the popular vote, and I would argue it should be the only vote that matters and to dissolve the electoral college. But it was a fair win in accordance with the system currently in place.

And the Libertarian and Constitution Party vote out did the difference by a much larger margin, which meant Trump would've won no matter what. In fact, he also would've won several more states and the popular votes if all the major third parties get counted.

Which would he have won?

Assuming the Republicans were as good about keeping Libertarians off the ballot as Democrats are at keeping Greens off the ballot, Trump would've won Minnesota, New Hampshire, Nevada, and New Mexico in 2016. In 2020, Trump would've won Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, and possibly Pennsylvania.

Ok. Those in power made the rules. Don't like them vote for people who will change them.

What nefarious tactics were used?

The electoral college was meant to be check on the people. Republican electors should have cast their ballot for popular vote winner as Trump was unfit to be president. If his base didn’t like it too bad. I’d rather have had the constitutional crisis.

I don't know enough about what happened in Michigan or the circumstances behind that decision to speak on it. You do know I don't live in Michigan, I don't really give a shit what Michigan does.

The electoral college was meant to preserve the Southern states' partial credit for the Blacks they did not permit to vote.
