It's hardly surprising. Trump himself wasn't the problem, it's that his election revealed to Republicans that the American electorate is far more stupid and complacent than they had ever dared to dream, and that they wasted years carefully cloaking their policies in euphemisms and trying to do things under the radar, when it would take an Act of God to get the average American voter to actually do anything but shuffle aimlessly along burbling vapidly about American exceptionalism and gas prices.

Trump lost the election because he is a tantrum throwing man-child and it rankled the bobbleheads vague notion that the President of the gReaTesT cOunTrY oN eArtH should be respectable, not because of his overt corruption and power grabbing.

So Republicans will win the midterms, and then double down on dismantling voting and civil rights all over the country, and the response of the voters will be "How could we have known that if we gave them power they would do exactly what they kept loudly screaming they would do if they had power, we stopped paying attention after they promised to lower gas prices! We're the victims here!"

Should also note that the new Texas platform also officially declares homosexuality an 'abnormal lifestyle choice'. But remember, it's just Democratic fearmongering to suggest that Lawrence v Texas and Obergefell are on the GOP's list of 'bad' Supreme Court rulings that also need to be overturned now that Roe v. Wade is finally on the chopping block.

Tbh a lot of this is Texas being well Texas, which is weapons grade stupidity.

Interestingly the Trumps actually got mad at Texas attacking gay conservatives instead of fighting against liberals and anti-gun groups.

But anyway even if Obergefell or Lawrence got overturned it wouldn’t mean automatically no gay marriage or no gay sex. Only 14 states out of the 50 would revert to banning gay marriage and only 9 would revert to banning sodomy, of those 9 only 2 ban same-sex sodomy only the other 7 don’t care if you are gay or straight, the rest of the nation wouldn’t notice a change
