Blue Lives Matter - What is the true meaning of the movement

To quote my post I made in Osiris (which was definitely the wrong place for it),

“It’s so interesting that within the 2 years of me CTEing my former region has been refounded in the name of a movement hijacked by right wingers and used as a political tool to force or push and agenda the movement was never originally about, in order to deny and prolong the issue surrounding the institution, furthering political divide and slowing progression.

What started as a way to honor those who were killed has become a way to push a political agenda and excuse police brutality, murders, and institutionalized racism, and in doing so, ironically dishonors those who’s names are associated with the movement. Even the ones who it was founded for.

It just makes me sad.”

I actually do wonder when the Blue Lives Matter phrase/movement took on this new and troubling meaning. There’s no disputing that right now, in the present, the movement is being used as a way to stir political strife. But when did that start. Has it been around in any discernible way since the beginning of the movement, or has it just now in the last 10 or so years begun to turn away from its founding purpose. Any discussion regarding the movement, it’s effects, it’s history, is welcome. I once (obviously) was a true follower of the movement, believing that it honored the individuals who passed/were killed in the line of duty. I don’t think, though, that I can support this movement alongside its new and horrendous meaning. I would like to see new perspectives on it, so that I can find where I should stand on this issue myself.

It's not that all lives don't matter, it's more of a response. Some people think these lives don't matter, and we must correct them. Black Lives Matter. Never does it imply that other lives don't.

Backing the blue and similar pro-police sentiments are nothing new. However, as someone who is critical of Black Lives Matter, I am quite aware that Blue Lives Matter was just coined as a counter to it. Its meaning has not changed and was always a right-wing culture war movement meant to attack the real BLM with.

The term All Lives Matter is purposely meaningless to avoid talking about issues in order to astroturf a movement to oppose admitting to systemic faults that target minority groups for persecution.
