Nah this i a major fucking geopolitical blunder no matter how you look at it for Russia. They've thrown away any political influence they had on the west, specifically Europe, they've united NATO and pushed Finland and Sweden to seek NATO membership. And they're getting their asses kicked in Ukraine, with the poor state of their military humiliating them.

Militarily speaking hard long term goals they have achieved them all one big one notwithstanding "Pacification of Ukraine"

All other long term military goals have been achieved.

Not even close. They're not even in control of all of the Donbas yet, and its unlikely they ever will be.

I do not believe Finland and Sweden rushing into the arms of NATO was one of Russia's long-term goals. I also happen to believe that having your military revealed as a paper tiger is fundamentally detrimental to long-term foreign policy if you're a Russian hoping to restore and secure the prestige of the Russian Federation. It's been a setback in most key respects, the progress made in Donbas notwithstanding. And Donbas isn't worth Russia's economy potentially shrinking by 10% and a third of its combat ready forces being wiped out.

Understandable under the circumstances.

If the Russians actually win, and carry out all their ethnic cleansing nonsense, then I'm sure the trend will be turned around. But if they can't win - which seems increasingly likely - then I hope they realize they've just cemented a Ukrainian identity firmly in the mind of every single person who lives there for centuries. Much more so then if they hadn't done anything at all.

Probably not. It'll likely be more akin to what Israel did in Iraq and Syria. So a much more limited strike intended to delay Iran's nuclearization by destroying relevant sites. An actual direct conflict is unfeasible because there's are at least two countries separating Israel and Iran. But, yeah, not super relevant here given your premise that this would look like Russia's invasion of Ukraine is just false.
