Looks like a blast from an anti-tank weapon ignited the tank's ammunition in the autoloader, causing an explosion which took off the top of the turret. That would have been fatal for the crew. It would have required a rocket from close range. Which means yet another Russian tank bites the dust in an effective Ukrainian ambush! :geek:

He should read up on his history and how the Germans tried and failed to hold the territory they gained. Plus The Germans were better armed and trained as well as supplied then the Russians in Ukraine. So that’s saying a lot when a WW2 army is better then your army in 2022.
“One of the serious problems of planning against Aggie doctrine is that the Aggies do not read their manuals nor do they feel any obligations to follow their doctrine.”
“The reason that the Aggies does so well in wartime, is that war is chaos, and the Aggies practices chaos on a daily basis.”

I don't feel joy over seeing that, but I do feel a small bit of relief. Four Russian prisoners were executed like the one civilian in bucha with a gray hoodie and hands tied. May they all rest in peace.

If you had more self-awareness you'd realize people like you are what makes these shitty authoritarian systems possible.

I doubt this conflict had ever crossed your mind a few months ago, even in February you had little knowledge of the basic facts. Now you're policing some dumb NS thread for ideological correctness and feeling "relief" at war crimes. I've seen the video - it's not very relieving. One guy is missing half his skull, the other jerks around like a dying rabbit. The guys who killed them weren't even Ukrainian. They were just volunteers living out your fantasy from a few pages ago.

It was creepy enough when you suspected Picairn (of all people!) might use an NS regional message board to spread Russian propaganda.

The invasion is bad. Everybody knows this. In a just world, Putin would feel the pain and terror of every one of his victims.

But it's not a just world because it's filled with people like you. People who go absolutely mental when presented with an abstract threat on TV and crude propaganda that would have been recognizable thousands of years ago. People that guys like Putin can lead around by the nose.

I highly suspect you don't give a shit about Ukrainians. You're after social status on a mostly deserted internet forum by loudly proclaiming your moral righteousness, insinuating everyone who slightly disagrees with you is a traitor, and vicarious triumphalism from an army that you're admittedly too pudgy to fight for. An army with guys like Daniil Dashuk.

Since you think Ark is a "morbidly wrong" liar, here's what I think:

In Russia you'd be painting Zs on everything.
In Mao's China you'd have a little red book.
In Rwanda you'd have a machete.
In Ukraine you'd be taping Roma to poles.

But you're not in any of those places so you're just a "proud volunteer" doing things like calling a guy who's spent most of his adult life in a metal tube hunting Russian subs a liar and others "Putin simps" because they're not utterly gullible enough to believe in the Ghost of Kyiv.

There's a Russian veteran of Chechnya who occasionally posts on NS. If Twitter had been around back then you'd be gloating over the utter hell he went through, at his friends dying. Right now he's in Ukraine doing pediatric medicine for refugee children.

This is a dumb senseless war with dumb senseless people cheerleading the slaughter from the sidelines, and NSG is filled with people so miserable they're hoping a stray nuke hits them. I remember why I stopped posting here after that guy fucked his housecat.

Nazism? Not quite. If Dugin’s ideology resembles Hitler’s ideology, it’s because both are based in fascism and ethnic irredentism. The most dangerous fascists aren’t Nazis or avowed Fascists, but the ones who adapt it to their environment and then deny they are fascists in the first place.

Saw that. And to think some people think Imperialism is OK so long as it is not a Western nation (especially not America)? Give me a break. His grandiose scheme is gonna end the same way Nazi Germany's ambition did: with fire, ash, and defeat. If Russia is getting blocked by Ukraine, imagine what would happen if Poland and Romania entered into the conflict.

Arkandros wrote:I mean I’m all fairness, I failed to spoon-feed information to back up my personal experience with trying to join the Ukrainian volunteer forces. Perhaps it is I, the one who provided the source of information and the path to acquire said information, that is in the wrong. Truly, by providing an opportunity to ask a primary source like the Ukrainian governmental embassy that has been handling the foreign legion volunteer applications, I have failed to provide the appropriate unthinking pro-Ukrainian propaganda demanded of me by NSG. Truly, I deserve this ignore. Thank you, oh great and wise Archinstinct, for your stunning and heroic defense of the Ukrainian homeland.
The entirety of this is, of course, sarcastic. Whether you block me or not is irrelevant to the fact that the contract I was presented was everything short of extortionist. Whether that’s changed or not since I inquired about a month ago, I couldn’t tell you, but I bet the Ukrainian embassy can.

There are people serving as foreign volunteers in Ukraine who have not done it through the Ukrainian embassies in their respective countries. They made their way there, met with other volunteers they got in touch through FB with, and finagled their way into an international unit. I'm willing to bet the terms of their enlistment there, on the ground, less than fifty miles from the nearest Russian troops, were probably a lot less appalling than the terms you received through the embassy - which may also be their way of weeding out everybody who's not 110% committed.

I’d actually agree that the terms of enlistment in-country (at least early on, when I was looking at enlisting) would be more expedient, but as the article I posted earlier discusses, even these early volunteers were offered the same (at least in regard to unlimited enlistment length) contract that the embassy offered. As you accurately state, battlefield expediency tends to outweigh bureaucracy in the short term, but eventually the administrators will demand paperwork, and I have no reason to believe that the embassy enlistment contract wasn’t authorized by the government.
Additionally, if this was some kind of psyop to weed out uncommitted individuals, the Ukrainian border guards wouldn’t have been stopping every male between the ages of 18-60 (again, this was directed by the Ukrainian government) from leaving the country in preparation for presumable mass conscription. (Source: https://amp.theguardian.com/global-development/2022/mar/09/ukraine-urged-to-take-humane-approach-as-men-try-to-flee-war)

Edit: dtn, as much as I appreciate you standing up for my integrity, I genuinely don’t think it’s worth your effort here. Half the reason I’m even posting is to share my personal opinion and experience, and whether that gets disregarded as a Russian shill job or actually respected as the opinion of someone who might have an inkling of knowledge on the subject is pretty much irrelevant. There’s nothing any of us can do to prevent those with preconceived answers from rejecting conflicting information. It’s the same thing as trying to convince a member of Qanon that Trump isn’t president, or a flat earther that the world is, in fact, round.
This shall conclude my posting on this thread.

I'm fairly certain that's not the point Dtn was making, though. Maybe the example wasn't the best, but the general gist of the post makes the argument quite clear, no? Missing the forest for the trees and all, here.

I propose we send all Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonators to Ukraine wearing all black w/black shades and a grenade launcher and a shotgun.

For a second, I thought this was going to be about the NSA’s murderous surveillance AI and not the fictional AI of the same name, which would have been a bit more surprising.

This is what must be stamped out. Unless the very invocation of this belief is made verboten (both by increased prosperity, democracy imposed from without, and yes, outlawing this sort of shit), you'll have war.
