Exclusive: Turkey 'not closing door' to Sweden, Finland NATO entry

ISTANBUL, May 14 (Reuters) - Turkey has not shut the door to Sweden and Finland joining NATO but wants negotiations with the Nordic countries and a clampdown on what it sees as terrorist activities especially in Stockholm, President Tayyip Erdogan's spokesman said on Saturday.

"We are not closing the door. But we are basically raising this issue as a matter of national security for Turkey," Ibrahim Kalin, who is also the president's top foreign policy advisor, told Reuters in an interview in Istanbul.

Playing devil's advocate (don't ask me why) Mariupol probably isn't much of a priority for them right now. It seems like the bulk of their forces have fallen back to East of Kharkiv, and they're trying to conduct some kind of big push at Izyum.

Not sure what they're hoping to achieve with that. Doesn't seem like a breakthrough there would gain them much. But I'm not going to be an armchair general and pretend I know more than I do. So maybe it makes sense.

Also, ISW is now firmly claiming the Battle of Kharkiv as a Ukrainian victory. They waited a bit for further verification on everything but its clear now the Russians have been thrown back from the city entirely and are back across the border in Russia for most the part in that area.

I'm curious to see if this trend continues. Ukraine isn't launching sweeping offensives across the entire front but they are doing really well at holding the line while focusing on smaller offensives here and there that so far seem to be really effective.
